It's not about how many GPD, but overall throughput. A 4g tank can only fit about 3g of water. At 50GPD, that means 2g/hour. So if you need to refill your tank, it will take about 1.5h to refill it. For a family of two, that's not a problem, but when you have more people using your system you will run out of water and have to wait for your ro to refill the tank. The GPD rating is also best case scenario because it depends largely on your water pressure and how clean your tap water is, so there's that. A 600 GPD is also on the extreme and since it's bigger membrane your water is not as clean, still pretty good though. I have a 100gpd membrane and it works great because I can use my ro water for cooking without worrying about taking up all the water. This one is probably on sale because 50 is impractical for most households.

You can also purchase this one and if the refill rate is too slow for you then upgrade your membrane. When you upgrade your membrane you also have to upgrade your flow restrictor to match your membrane capacity/throughput.
