Spectropure has been around for a very long time, I had some of their original systems back in the early 2000s when they were $500 for pretty much the same system. Yes they make excellent systems but in this day RO systems really have become very common place and there's no reason to spend extra money on a Spectrapure. One could get one of these cheaper systems and just buy their filters when it gets time to replace. Of course just my opinion.

No big difference. Test the TDS, let the data talk.

FWIW my water scientist friend says SpectraPure makes the best systems in the USA, vs questionable filters from China. If you are spending $100+ to keep family drinking water safe, I believe it worth a bit more.

Reviews are all over the place. I've had good experience with Ispring brand. Only had one little leak in many years and was a simple fix by cutting back a little of the tube and pumping more air into the tank to get more flow.

If you don't mind the hassle and messy of changing filter. These standard RO system is decent. I bought the tankless version for $350 and it's better in my opinion. Also it powered so the flow rate is constant unlike the tank version that relied on pressure. If you use RO a lot then you know the flow rate is important.

Filter replacement price for both version is not that much different for the hassle of replacing it.

Also had good experience with the iSpring system, almost 15 years now, outside of filters, only thing that leaked were a few tubing ends that eventually wore thin from the quick connects (I just cut them off) and the housing o-rings. That said I agree with the poster above, if I was going to buy a new system now, I would probably go with tankless. Swapping out the filters and having to deep clean/de-sanitize it once a year is still a PITA.

If you have a basement, put this under the kitchen, rather than use up valuable cabinet space.

We have a waterdrop and tend to go through filters more often than typical RO systems like the one on this deal maybe because it has a built in TDS meter. Otherwise we'd replace when the water tastes kinda hard.

Wrong? No, but they are large limited to that specified filtering performance. The overall performance of a multistage RO will be much better.

So your end product depends in your starting inout and type and extent if filter you have.
