Spectropure has been around for a very long time, I had some of their original systems back in the early 2000s when they were $500 for pretty much the same system. Yes they make excellent systems but in this day RO systems really have become very common place and there's no reason to spend extra money on a Spectrapure. One could get one of these cheaper systems and just buy their filters when it gets time to replace. Of course just my opinion.
No big difference. Test the TDS, let the data talk.

If you have a granite countertop, is the only option for installation to drill a new hole in the countertop?
pay the professional to do it. It'll cost you $100-$150 but it's worth it. One small mistake will cost you thousands of dollars and it's a nightmare
A good diamond drill bit is also like $50 if you were to do it yourself so it's not worth the headache in my opinion

+1. I put in an expresswater system this way in 2020 and still going strong. Very inexpensive filters as well- I paid $75 for a 3 year set. My family loves the water quality.

Stay away from this company. Needed to order wrenches to replace the filters and new o-rings. They were out of stock on those items for over a month, making my system unusable.

FWIW my water scientist friend says SpectraPure makes the best systems in the USA, vs questionable filters from China. If you are spending $100+ to keep family drinking water safe, I believe it worth a bit more.

No big difference. Test the TDS, let the data talk.

PSA:

NEB: You need to be careful of PFAS or the forever chemical its called. There are plenty of documentaries on youtube that talk about it and its dangers.

You can verify if a water filtration system filters for PFAS by going to the NSF website and verifying the particular model is certified against PFAS. You need to make sure it has the correct cert, i believe its 53 and 58.

My current water filter doesn't filter for it... but my next one, I will try to make sure it does.
Please show me anywhere on that site that lists a particular model...

Express Water systems, especially reverse osmosis and under-sink filters, are designed to remove PFAS (Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) from water.

If you do this, keep in mind that these are pressure powered systems and the exit pressure is very low. If you put the talk in the floor below the kitchen, mount the system up high so it can still have enough pressure to reach the sink.

Yep drill a new hole but use the special drill Forgot the name. Used plenty of water so you don't crack it. I drilled mine after watching YouTube. It is easy.
I had good luck with a kit like this: Granite Hole Drilling Kit [homedepot.com]
Worked like a charm on my bathroom vanity and it (mostly) contained the water while drilling.

I been buying and installing these from express water on ebay for years now, for all my friends saving them hundreds every time. My own system from them is over 10 yrs old, no issues.
For anyone saying this is cheap system - it is inexpensive but high quality, no leaks and does not use any propitiatory components savings tons on replacement filters.

Do not ask for higher capacity membrane - 75, or 100 GHP. 50 GPH membrane is a sweet spot - it is sufficient for most households. and it provides highest purification level in the lineup. Purification level Important if you have well water, less important if you are on city water But you can setup it to waste less water on city water.

That said all most people need is basic filter (5 stage), those alkaline filters are useless.

I have set up that way (filter and tank in the basement), and I am on well water (less pressure - 50 PSI vs city 60-70 PSI) and it is all good. It should be set to 2/3 of inlet pressure, so 40 PSI for city. One floor looses about 3 PSI
Just set up your tank to 15-20 PSI to maximize pressure.

I had sales guy selling these in my house testing my water. He never came back after testing express water filter output. Wonder why?

So you reverse osmosis all the impurities away only to add back a bunch of metals in the end?

Head here https://www.nsf.org/certified-products-systems
Then head to Consumer and Retail Products section > Water Filters (click the link)

Then use the search bar and look at a company you're interested in, in this case it's express water. Finally verify the correct cert. I believe its 58 and 53. Then inspect the table and look for the water filter itself, then check out the details.

Hmm i cannot attach a snippet? but if you follow those steps you'll find some info. Hopefully im write..

Seems to work fine from the basements in my area (we generally have 60psi); even when splitting the output between the sink and the ice maker.
