Neither seem to have OpenWRT or ddwrt support in case anyone else was wondering.
Also, the ax7800 is available on Woot for 49.99. I'm wondering why they so dirt cheap. Might have to bite as they are definitely better then my wifi 5 orbis.

I still believe its a decent deal cuz these are high end wifi 6 specs. 4x4 dedicated wireless backhaul on most of these. and ax7800 has 4x4 front haul.

I'm hearing if you can deal with the crappy app.
its solid.

edit: I dont know the maximum number of units that can be linked together.

"Add another mAX
This feature cannot be accessed remotely.
Tap Add a New Satellite on the Side menu to add 1 or 2 mAX satellites to your home Wi-Fi
network. For more information, see Adding a SURFboard mAX satellite (page 22)."

Ended up buying off woot instead of the deal in this thread. Seems worth it for the extra $5. Thanks!

Cool good luck to you. See my edit. I have the review from a well known router reviewer. The set up can be painful but if u get past that should be good.

Yeah, I have these and the app is useless. Basically once you set it up (which is a slog) the app will just never find the router. Everything will still work as a router (most of the time) but if you want parent settings, any data about your network, fine tune anything, you're out of luck.

They're dirt cheap because they're trash. I used the ax7800 model for almost a year, hoping either they they'd fix it with firmware updates or someone would hack it for tomato or DD-WRT, but no luck. The range is crap and their app is absolutely miserable, offering you fewer features than any router I've used since the days of 802.11b.

Do yourself a favor and run for your life from anything made by Arris.

Posted on other deals - hardware is fantastic. App is very limited; long range backhaul on the AX11000 was rock solid and maxed out the 1gb internet. And you can do an Ethernet baclhaul.

Would the 5ghz backhaul one be better than the 6ghz backhaul one if they're not going to be in line of sight?

I bought the ax7800. It fits my needs and the speed & range are excellent. I got the most out of my Internet speed vs a TP link router I paid for $200 a few years back. The setup is ok with the app. It's a one time setup so no big deal. Cheers! 🍻
