Environmental Concerns
• Microplastic Pollution: A significant downside is that melamine sponges are made from poly(melamine-formaldehyde), a plastic material. As they wear down during use, they shed microplastic fibers, which can enter water systems and contribute to environmental pollution. Recent studies estimate that over a trillion microplastic fibers from melamine sponges could be released globally each month.
• Non-Biodegradable: Contrary to some claims, most melamine sponges are not biodegradable and will persist in landfills if not properly disposed of. This adds to long-term waste management issues.

Make sure you look for high density Malamine sponge as they will last longer and won't fall apart so quick.

This. Bought a big bag of them years ago super cheap and still have a bunch lol. No need to pay for name brand.
