Eh, Samsonite carry on/checked bag for $150 is a better deal. The $30 extra of junk isn't worth it. If you're getting packing cubes, get ones that compress

That Samsonite on sale for $149 is not of "CALPAK" quality. In general, CALPAK quality > Samsonite.
Why do you think Samsonite is routinely on sale at COSTCO and CALPAK never is?

Secondly, that large checked luggage on that Samsonite is HUGE. If you want to be lugging around a monster, well that's not for me.

The one in the link below is probably far better. Just look at the top notch specifications!

Legit deal wow. Cal pak makes great stuff and provides great customer service over the years. Stoked for this bundle to arrive!!
They have superlative customer service as they respond to emails fairly quickly.

This is a great deal for this many pieces with solid polycarbonate shells, but I wish they had some good colors besides black and drab green.
Well, the one in this thread was a "Front Page" deal at that same $179.99 price.

I just received my order today in Pistachio color. Unfortunately it's such an ugly color. It's much darker, odd shade of green than what you see online. Go with black if you want it.

I will be returning, not because of the color though. The walls are very thin and feels VERY flimsy. I have an older Ricardo set that feels twice as thick and is far more rigid. The zippers are nice, internal material is good, I like that both sides have internal zippered walls. Rolls nice, wheels are better than the Ricardo ones, and a little smaller and not as good as the Japanese ones used on Monos luggage.

Reddit reviews say otherwise that their hard luggage look good but quality wise on the cheaper side esp for long haul transatlantic flights.
This is not me saying multiple folks said it's cracking etc.
Well this Members Mark may be a better than the one in this thread and that too at a lower price. Check the specs!

Just checked other hardsided large luggage on Costco.com and they're all 10-12 pounds.
Correct....large hardside luggage has this constraint. But softside large luggage should weigh about 9lbs so there's not much of a material difference.

lolz. i just love how they make commercials videos

" It is lightweight and can be easily switch between ride-on mode and pull-behind us", with the video showing some one putting it on airplane overhead space.

this thing weight 20.72 lbs empty.. with stuff you normally expect to carry with you on a flight, you looking at 35lb at the low end. i don't know how many people can left 35 lb boxes with ease. and let's no forget there actually is a weight limit for carry ons, which is 35 lbs.

I would watch reviews where people show the flex and thickness of the plastic materials before making any assumptions about the quality.

I would not buy Costco luggage, and especially in a generic color like black. They sell a ton, so there's going to be 3 identical cases on every luggage pickup carousel.

What a silly reason not to buy at Costco. These are mass produced items no matter where you buy them. If you're worried about similar looking luggages, just put some stickers or colorful straps to make it easily identifiable.

I have a Cal Pak and for a basic piece of luggage it seems decent. I took it to Italy and it was easy to transport as the wheels are very smooth, the zipper works well and the lock is as solid as the locks on more expensive bags.

Con's are that these bags are pretty generic and thus they don't look high end and resemble the bags that most other people are traveling with so locating yours on the carousel takes a bit of sleuthing.

As an alternative to buying from Costco, I bought mine at Nordstrom rack and paid $73 for an extra large checked version that has built in locks. If you need only one bag and not this ensemble, you can try the Rack. Of course the return policy isn't as good so you have to consider the value of that vs buying multiple bags that you might not need.

Also, I really like packing cubes for longer trips. Keep one empty to put your socks and undergarments into. It helps keep the dirty clothes smell contained. Also, buy a small spray bottle and fill it with scent spray or take some scent pellets from that you throw into the washer. Dissolve the scent pellets into some water in the spray bottle and spray your dirty clothes. It works very well. Your clothes don't smell nearly as funky.

I've had a CALPAK carryon I got from Amazon Warehouse Deals about 10 years ago. Taken it on at least 80 trips. Fantasic bag.

I got mine for about $50 on Warehouse Deals so it's kinda hard to process paying $180 for the carryon+checked (everything else in this bundle is the equivalent of "including screwdriver bits in a 100-piece mechanics tool set).

But still...fantastic bags.
