I purchased the 6K version on sale in March directly from Sofirn and thought I got an OK price (paid $70). I just bought the 5K version on this deal. This is a great price. Keep in mind that this is a "soda can" style light that takes three big 21700 batteries and is very HEAVY, so it's not EDC. It is however, impressively BRIGHT!
I don't need more flashlights but couldn't resist. Is this a symptom of flashlight hoarding?

Why do they shape them like this instead of long style, like a maglite? Even if you don't want them in series you could do a battery sled

I got the Sofirn Q8 Pro in April 2023. I'd say I use it at least weekly. It has been super useful especially during power outages using the diffuser. I just sit it in the middle of the room and it lights up everything.

Very few brands I recommend without thinking about it, and this is one of them.

Great deal on a powerful flashlight. It is heavy and not very practical as an EDC. Having said that, I use mine daily as a lamp and move it around to wherever I need more light. Also is excellent to have for emergency usage during power outages and I believe can be used as a power bank too.

You should add a white silicone diffuser to it. Makes it an awesome camping and emergency light. You can get them on Ali

16K lumens, huh?

That would mean it would have to draw around 160 watts, which would drain three high-capacity 21700 battery (5 Ah) in about twenty minutes or less.

I guess that's *possible* (ignoring problems like cooling), but I imagine that as is often the case, the lumen rating is greatly exaggerated.

If it can sustain the maximum brightness for 2.6 hours (as their page says), that suggests that it's really putting out more like 2200 lumens -- which is a lot more realistic, but still pretty decent.

Good dog walking light or is it too much light? I have the SC31 Pro but wish the battery life was better.

Yeah and you can use it as a defensive weapon. Insanely bright light.

no, not quite, no flashlight AFAIK that is rated at sustained lumens. 16k usually up to 20-30 seconds and then it drops into the next tier. and usually max is not even in the cycle of tiers, but has to be unlocked.

Saw this many times on sale but more than this. I really did not want or need one of these but at the price it was just to irresistible. after the fact just now for some justification I did have the thought that I do kayak and sometimes toward dark and something like this might be great for an emergency on the water. I'd think maybe boaters would feel the same. Definitely would do serious duty as signalling device

Paid 92 bucks for this a few years ago. 11/23

Now I can go akimbo! They do get warm on sear mode but it has the camera mount threads so you can put a handle or a little stinger grip on it.

All light with this OS have the "fun modes." I really enjoy turning it to lightning mode and turning on some thunderstorm/rain sounds and just relaxing

I bought the 5k version a few years ago. I also bought 3 MOLICEL 21700 batteries (INR-21700-P42A) for it based on forum posts and they make the thing even crazier (very high discharge rate battery). I also got the silicone diffuser for it. It is an awesome light.

There are lights out there with a reverse clip, so it can clip onto the front bill of a baseball cap. If you wear caps, check out those lights. Leaves two hands for dog stuff

For emergency lights, I have LED lanterns in various places around the house. You can usually find them crazy cheap - like $5 each including batteries. They are very bright as well. Not 16,000 lumens bright, but easily brighter than my end-table lamps. If the power goes out, I just stumble to the nearest lantern and light up the room.

I just got mine delivered. These are counterfeit. The writing is different and the batteries were white wrapper no names. Sofirn only uses sofirn batteries
