Microcenter has bundled ram, mobo, this cpu for $800. The ram and mobo will be better than this in that bundle. The gpu is going from $825 to $900. From the pics on the customer reviews. You will either get a power color or asrock gpu. Let's say you are at $1600 for the ram, mobo, cpu and gpu. That is $400 for this case, power supply, m.2, cooler and windows which is basically free now. If you bought a quality psu, case, cooler and m.2 you would be close to the $400 but it would be better than what is in this pc.

Is there value here? I guess. If you don't overclock. If you don't build your own stuff. If you just want to take something out of a box and turn it on.

I think people tend to undervalue their own time though. I've built PCs and it's not a trivial process to get a whole ass PC assembled, running and ready to use from a bunch of components. You have to really want to do it or not care about the time it takes when making a roll your own vs prebuilt decision.

we did my sons computer this am, all new except for the case and power supply. 15 min to put it together, have it "post" and update the bios. installing windows 11 and it was around 45 min total. Also its not like your setting jumpers and all that.

To order all the many parts to build a PC takes a lot of time and effort! Then building it takes 1/2+ a day depending on your experience...and when something doesn't work? I had a bad mobo from Amazon lately and that took me hours and delayed my build for over a week!

Yes, people just jump in here and start rambling. I've pcs since the 90s and while I enjoy tedious task. Most don't. It's not as hard as it used to be. Scsi, slave/master switches, jumpers) its still not something most would enjoy. Not sure why "build it yourself" is the sentiment in gaming nowadays. Lots of people love fast cars….. doesn't mean we have any desire to build one.

They're not wrong. It takes me 20 - 30 mins to build a pc (I only do SFF now) but with Amazon and Newegg there's always something that tends to not work or be the wrong part. So yes for the majority it'll all go flawlessly. But I've have many builds where you go to power on and…. Nothing. Bad ram, bad psu cable extension, bad pin on mobo header, bad cpu socket, etc. hell nowadays you finished your building and BAM!! Windows can't see your nvme drive….it only sees the thumb drive you're using to boot windows. ….again.. to me it's nothing, but for someone who just wants to game. They could lose an entire day. I've seen people remove parts to find an issue and in the process broke something. There's a reason why prebuilt sell.

I'm willing to wait for AMD AM6 socket cpu 6.4Ghz turbo boost in 2028. Then wait a few years to go on sale used on ebay for $400.

Absolutely, when I was younger I always loved doing it. After about 100 builds now I want nothing to do with the complex ones, it's a huge time sink to do it perfect.
