seems like a good deal. doesn't have Teflon or stuff like that. has some diamond nonstick stuff but that seems ok. anyone have experience with this?

I have a different Cuckoo (around the same price originally), and it cooks PERFECT rice. I've done Jasmine, Brown and long grain, and they all have been fantastic. Highly recommended.

It's apparently a proprietary coating, so Cuckoo won't disclose any info on it. Supposedly PFOA free, but that does not mean it's PTFE or PFAS free. In my opinion, products like these rely upon the ambiguity to keep selling coatings that might harm consumers. If you are concerned about "forever chemicals," your best bets are bare stainless steel, enameled, or ceramic (actual ceramic, not a coating).

Personally, I use a rice cooker with a non-stick coating, but I'm careful not to scratch or chip it. And my next rice cooker will probably be ceramic or stainless steel.

I love Cuckoo rice cooker used past 4.5 years and no issues.
