Sn8100 eating their lunch

the WD is probably the only gen 5 drive worth owning.

Gen 5 drives are crazy. This is over double what I paid for the 4tb 990 Pro. Unless you know you need a gen 5 drive, don't bother.

I'm interested in the 990 Pro 4TB drive. I have $125 samsung credit that expires end of July. What would your buy price be? Currently at $309 on amazon/samsung.com but it seems like its been as low as $280

$115/TB in this market? That's just silly- even if it's a halo product. There's not much value to this beyond feeling smug about benchmarks.

Wooboy Samdung has just won the lottery charging these prices. Orico 4TB is $109 in shenzhen. These ripoff prices are for suckers.

Is it the same specs?

I don't think so, the chinese branded 4tb pcie5 drives are usually around 399$ in china local, 461 is still bit overpriced but is not totally out of mind

Bought 990 pro 4TB SSD directly from Samsung website around thanksgiving 2024. installed it in my laptop around Christmas. it worked fine until a few weeks ago (and I didn't use it that much during those 5 months). The SSD seems to be corrupted. when booting up, it got stuck in neverland. I took the SSD off the laptop and install it in a external adapter to see if I can recover some data, but unfortunately the computer won't recognize the drive. It seems at this point it's unrecoverable. Trying to return it to Samsung now to see if they can do anything about it. hopefully a replacement... but then, I won't be able to trust it anymore!
