Sub $400 is my buy in price for the non zero turn mower. I have 5 5ah batteries, a blower, multi head system weed eater/edger and hedge trimmer. My $80 kobalt mower is doing fine right now getting 75% of the small lawn done on a single charge

It's something I don't need. It basically is a ride on mower marketing gimmick where the mower turns but it is usually a smooth turn or sharp turn. You'd ideally want a flat lawn as slopes can be difficult for any mower. Think more like a quick powered electric wheelchair that cuts grass
your description of a zero-turn mower is hilarious...

I have the 21" Greenworks 5ah battery self propelled that I purchased last year for around the same price. I wanted the Ego but it was way much more. Better deals this year! While it works and cuts fine, I am not happy with it because of the batteries...they SUCK (dies quickly)! Not only are they pricey but they are constantly out of stock, especially when they're on sale. I had to buy a trimmer that was on sale with a 5ah battery which was less than the battery alone on the website. I am seriously considering picking up this Ego!!

this is a nice starter or backup mower.. and the two batteries I don't have yet. My original push Ego backup died so started using my like new Honda HRX 17 I got cheap. . Acme says product is new but I had to return a blower that had the wrong tube section years ago.

I went with the Ego last year and have been happy with it. Pretty good cut, bag or mulch, doesn't bog down too easily, folds up easily for storage, and is super light. Only one line of battery to worry about instead of 40/60/80V systems offered by Greenworks, so only a single charger interface too, which is nice. Makes it easy for people buying batteries as "gifts" or hacking deals on their other products.

Some people complain about the Ego being all plastic vs. Greenworks having steel decks, but for my purposes the weight reduction is a phenomenal benefit. IIRC, the comparable Greenworks with a steel deck was ~25lbs heavier than the Ego… I have some steep hills that I was doing with a 100+lbs gas mower and it took everything I had to keep that stupid thing on the hillside. Greenworks specs would have saved me about 15 pounds while the Ego saved me closer to 40: it's light enough I can literally hold it on the hillside with one hand and the self-propelled mode does all the work. That alone was worth the price of entry to me because it's much safer, and since I'm not mowing gravel, I don't expect the deck to chip/crack/break from abuse.

The other huge benefit is how quiet it is. You can run it right next to the bedroom window of a bear at 4am and you won't get eaten for waking it up.
