What's the difference between buying this and the thruster kit? Isn't the thruster kit a better value since you can enable SSID to broadcast like an access point?

Yup the thruster kit is straight up better. You get the AP and a satellite for cheaper. I think you might have considered this before because the thruster kit didn't have AP mode in the earlier versions of the firmware but now you can connect multiple 6e clients and/or bridge two networks.

Note it's meant to add wifi 6e to existing 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz wifi routers. If you use this as your primary wifi AP you can't connect older 2.4ghz devices(iot) or 5Ghz devices to this.

I just got the Thruster from the woot deal and I think it is just a point to point connection between the two devices and not a general AP. I could be wrong, but at least for me, it basically acts as a single ethernet extension using a direct to node Wifi6e connection.

In 4 1 thanks. It seems this connects to your router via LAN cable to add 6e to your network of 2.4 and 5ghz channels. 6e is super fast mostly in the same room. It weakens bad through many walls and distance so good only for specific needs. Most people benefit most from a high quality strong 5ghz router.

You should cancel if you can and get the thruster kit. It's the same thing but cheaper and a satellite for devices that don't have Wi-Fi. I just got it and turned on the ssid to make it an access point like this is.

Thanks, when I looked up thruster kit I only came up with more expensive non Woot SD. Per your suggestion I looked harder and found SD. I did what you said. Absolutely makes sense.

Check out the wireless settings. There's a setting to enable the ssid for other 6e clients. I set mine up yesterday.

QQ for you - does the Thruster kit function as both the bridge and AP, or does switching it to AP completely disable the bridge function?

The bridge is just an AP and a client with an Ethernet port attached. I'm using it as a bridge and AP right now and no issues.
