Use a Surface laptop and outside of gaming, have no issues with any apps. Even emulated ones like Discord and some Adobe apps work well. The battery life and cool thermals are so much better than my Intel based laptop.
I'm hoping you're right. My entire family is all-in on Surface Pro devices for a decade and this would be a fantastic upgrade. But I'm just not keen to pay this $ for it. $700 all in would be tempting!
I am, $650-$700 anymore than that these are overpriced, the only reason this one is even above $1K is because of the OLED and SXE.
The surface laptop used-like new was already around the $600 mark.
Apparently you've only ever used an iPad because this runs a real operating system that looks and works just like Intel/AMD Windows. It also runs many of the most popular apps just like the Intel versions. So to say "more useless" is not true at all when an iPad looks and works nothing like macOS and is truly hobbled. Just trying to copy a file on an iPad is an exercise in frustration.
Not exactly. The GPU is extremely weak. I did a noise reduction enhancement in Lightroom on this and it took 70 seconds. Same thing on my Asus with Intel ARC and arrow lake i9 took 6 seconds. It was fine for basic browsing and general work but not anything else. I returned it.

Not exactly what? The comment was about this vs an iPad, not this vs an Arrow Lake i9. I have no clue why you're even mentioning it.

Why would you compare a machine with 12+ hours of battery, to a dGPU machine that would get 3?
Don't buy this!!! I got an open box one from Bestbuy and 13 months later with very little use like 4 uses for travel, it won't piwer on. Asus won't service it. Asus is the worst for service. They make cool stuff but lots of similar complaints.

Damn!!! Asus still suck? They got called out by gamer nexus. This is the amd model btw, not intel.
In most cases, no...because the Snapdragon (Arm-based, like smartphone cpus) cpu is not 100% compatible with regular x64 Intel/AMD cpu PCs!!
Even simple games and apps like some vpn or Fortnite WON'T install.
MicroCrap has played everyone trying the Windows on Arm cpu systems since the 2019 Surface Pro X with the SQ1 cpu, then SQ2, then Surface Pro 9 model, and now Surface Pro 11. EVERY ONE of these have had software incompatibilities and device driver issues!
Many schools refuse to support SnapX systems, and professors will likely make you run software that won't work on the SP11.
Even working in IT for years and having used everything, I'd even trade a free SP11 for a Mac even! The incompatibilities are that bad.
Be smart!
Surface Pro 10 with the Intel CPU or Surface Pro 9 with the InteCPU are the Surface Pros to look at buying for college.
....
If you're a cheap or poor student, Ebay for the SP6 or 7 8gb 256gb models $100 to $300 used. Microsoft releases a new SP yearly, so they depreciate in value like mad!
