Edit: Lol at whoever downvoted me. The prices of Xbox consoles are pants on head stupid now. No one in their right mind would spend $400 for a Series S, $600 for a 1TB Series X or $730 for a 2TB Series X.

Microsoft raised prices by:
MS is hurting the most because they're not making enough money from software licensing compared to Sony or Nintendo. Sony's and MS's console cycle business model is subsidized cost where they take a partial lost on the console made by selling in millions and making it back on software licenses from third parties. They're last place in the console adoption so they have to raise prices on their console or they'll be taking a higher lost. It's unfortunate but also ironic considering the tariffs are said to be promoting more of American companies but here we are with two Japanese companies taking the lead on business.
Yeah. I don't see the console dropping in price for a while. a deal getting better would probably mean two bundled digital games, not a price drop later this year or next year. With that said, you should not buy a console unless you are after the games that come out for it. So if you want to play Astrobot, God of War, Horizon, Ghost of Tsushima, etc. then it's a good purchase. A lot of those mentioned is what I got a PS5 for but they mostly released on PC so I could have just skipped Sony's console.

They've also raised the prices for Playstation Plus in every region except for the US...yet.

So Microsoft is not the only company hiking their prices. Even Stevie Wonder could see that Sony is likely to use the same excuses to raise prices here and probably soon. Hopefully they don't get the same idea as Nintendo and Microsoft and raise their first party games to $80 but again I'm sure it's already in the works.

Yeah. didn't say Sony was not going to raise prices. But it's also worth considering that the US market is the most important market for Sony, MS And Nintendo. So Sony has done this before where the price of materials was higher than usual because of COVID. To counter that, they had to raise prices for the console in most regions. They try to avoid raising prices in US because the consumers in US are more sensitive but also the most important. If they can get away with raising prices, they'll do it in other regions. Countering extra costs by raising the sale price works by diluting that raise price in a lot of regions, but not necessarily in every single region/market. If there were 10 markets and the price of making the console was 10% higher on a $10, they'd rather sell to the 9 markets for $1.1 instead of $1 more for all ten markets. The US market is just too highly competitive to lose any kind of edge. Sony will try hard not to raise the price in USA, but they will likely wait it out until the Nintendo Switch 2 slows down in hype if they choose to raise the price of the console. Sony can't afford to cause any kind of negativity on their Playstation right now. Nintendo sort of already raised the price of the Switch 2 in that they priced it $450 (was likely going to be $429 or $399 before tariffs were a factor). It's not a great time to be a console gamer right now because of software prices going up and the carts are looking to end up being game keys (sort of a half ass way to being digital or physical).
I believe Witcher 3 is cross platform save. So your saves should also transfer over to PC. you should google and check to see but I don't see why playstation can't move a cloud save from PS4 to PS5.

So I'm definitely future proofed for right now. The only trick is getting the friends I've made on consoles to switch.
Xbox turning into a publisher is so, so dumb. What IPs do they even have that would succeed, they kill everything they touch.
They put all their eggs in the gamepass basket, but it's not sustainable.
>recommends a switch 2
>admits to being a Nintendo fanboy
Nothing better than being reminded by a salesman that they are indeed, a salesman. In your case, you're doing it for free, Nintendo doesn't even know you exist
