good story.
PVP is not recommended for beginners
even if only for story its worth 3 bucks all day.
there are tons of guns and skills to use, skills are impressive when your build is good
The loot mechanic is good but also complex and just explaining the gear unlock and mod system can take a while, but add a lot of depth to the game.
you can, in game, at any time, and a message asks you when you die, "Call for aid" or "Call for backup"
this puts you in a game wide queue to receive assistance from other player characters.
they will automatically join your game and start helping, but expect them to be FAR more powerful than you. They may also have mics you can hear.
If you try it and like it and would like an in game explainer of anything my Ubisoft name is UnusualDevices
feel free to friend me ingame and send me an invite.

For $3 this is an insane deal for the amount of missions and content even if the base game. But yes, DLC's can add more, not sure how that is a bad thing
Runs great on the Steam Deck
All of that being said; the only online aspects is annoying to me for a game that is functionally single player by default (D1 was the same thing). Takes too long to connect, and I have been booted randomly twice for loss of connection during my 7 hours of gameplay. Luckily the game seems to sync quite often so no loss in progress occurred however you could have to restart a mission if it occured at the wrong time.
Lastly, for controller players; A and B (or X / O for PS) are completely reversed and not remappable (just like D1) for cover (crouch) and bound (jump). To me this seems like an insanely stupid choice, especially non-remappable as controller players for decades have associated A with jump. I ended up making a custom profile on the Steam Deck to swap these two buttons whenever the analog sticks were touched (that way the buttons were NOT reversed for menus as I use the D pad for them). Workable but still annoying AF to me. I played through 50 hours of D1 with a similar config. I'm almost at the point I am just going to mimic M&K using the controller and just suit the controls to my personal liking.
Honestly, don't know. About 7 hours into the main game. Some games the DLC adds a lot to the main game (such as the Sniper Elite's new guns) but on other games you are just tacking on a bunch of missions or gated content.

Then R5 sometimes I'll bind to the map or inventory button if left menu ("select") button is used for something else (which is normally assigned to "tab" by default in M&K config) and L5 is whatever else I might need. Sometimes just a random dialog key to get through some menu's. For example on The Division 2 I have it assigned for "V" because that key is sometimes used at prompts but I do not have it assigned to anything else to my knowledge.
Oh, and sometimes I will make L5 a mode shift or action layer activator. That button is hard to hit by mistake so works out well.
What about you?
P.S. FWIW, I did end up using a M&K config to completely replace the built in gamepad support for The Division 2, played about 40 hours like that so far. I hated "A" being cover and "B" being jump." I played through the entire first game like that with a mode switch when I was touching the analog sticks so those keys were swapped. When I wasn't touching the analogs they were normal. so the switched keys did not mess up menu's. M&K took about an hour to setup but has been a million times better overall because I do not have any accidental jumps or "covers" when I am not touching the analog sticks.

One of the top negative reviews says that the standard version is locked out of certain quests and there's no way you upgrade to a higher version, you have to buy the game again.
$3 is a crazy deal, but hard to justify if you are locked out of content that's already in the game...
They want 24$ for the gold edition and the extra missions aren't worth 21$ IMO

I usually start out by mapping a/x/y/b to different buttons, but then decide if its more important to map bumper / trigger so I can keep the pointers on a single button.
I think in helldivers, r5 is mapped to the toggle for chat/mute. And other games Ill try to set up macros or add rapid fire to the back buttons.
I havent messed with the shift mode function, I should try that for some rts games.
Hope all is well with you. Cheers
