Part of the value of these is so that people can untether themselves from their cell phones. For some people, not having their cell phone in their room when it is bed time is the ideal even.

I have one that projects the time on the ceiling big enough that I don't have to lift my head up to see the time so every time i wake up in the middle of the night i look up on the ceiling and big red numbers tell me the time and i go back to sleep.
P.S every time when i still have few hours of sleep left that joy can't be replaced.
Modern alarm clocks can adjust for DST using the signals from radio stations.
If they detect and adjust to signals from radio stations, what's stopping them from developing tech for nefarious purposes like reading people's thoughts and mind control? Theoretically.

Pretty much every cell phone since 2002 has an alarm clock built in.
Boom, saved y'all $6.
I don't want my kids to have phones when they go to sleep.
They always mentioned they need a phone for the alarm Gen Z excuses.
So I got this alarm clock to solve the problem.

"My wife prefers to have one as she glances over to the clock", vs picking up her phone with its brightness at night. Its 6 bucks. My old one is like 20 or more yrs old and the base broke. Sometimes there is a need for an old school item.
A powdered wig????

Seriously have no idea why I don't have one of these after years of turning on my phone nightly to see the time. What have we become.
I posted in an fbook group looking for a nice little digital clock suggestion a while back for my living room and people were like " why don't you just look at your phone for the time?". I was kind of confused, like I don't want to have to pick up my phone when I'm laying on the couch just to see the time lol

Lots of rather myopic people fail to understand that devices that perform similar functions can have entirely different use cases. Why get a bike when you already have a car, am I right? 🙄

They do. I revived a message saying you were going to make this post. They're everywhere 👀
I didn't know that. Surprising that even old outdated technology has advanced.
Not only time, I have a small B/W LCD weather panel, (desktop kickstand or has a magnet to stick to the fridge). You set your city (or closest one in the list) and it get time, temp, and forecast through a radio signal - no Internet needed.
I can't remember how old it is, maybe 10-12 years.

Agreed, that's the only reason I'm not purchasing this to replace my 20 yo clock radio.
Curious, where do you see that's the size and not a regular 9v?
Battery is for backup. This has regular power cord for plugin!
