I use retractable USB cables for my many travels each year, and have done so for over a decade. They ALWAYS go bad after a year or two, no matter how well you treat them. You're better off getting a charger without built-in cables and getting the cables separately, or the whole thing will die in one big clump. They have a finite lifespan by nature, even the expensive high quality ones (like Retrak).

My 2 cents brought to you by experience.

No it isn't, because we aren't talking about radioactivity which is a special case. Are you suggesting the charger is radioactive or that it fires off particles of itself at high speeds and directly into you? Because if not, then it's not the same thing.

For the stuff you're talking about? Of course not. None of that has to do with this product. It's simply marketing talk for a form of abs that can withstand higher heat. Has nothing to do with actual flame retardant chemicals you're talking about. So yes, you'd have to eat it. In which case the actual problem would be eating plastic. None of what you've said this whole thread matters at all.
