Shop teacher here. If you need a cheap set of chisel for a one or two off project I would recommend that Harbor freight's 6 piece set (it really is just minus stones) and it is only 9.99. Otherwise hit the yard sales and find a good used set with better steel to sharpen over the long term.

Taylor Toolworks has a great chisel sharpening system:

https://taytools.com/products/dri...3ccc&_ss=r

You'll also need to build / buy or 3D print a jig:

https://makerworld.com/en/models/...eId-978682

Great (razor sharp) results, keeps everything aligned perfectly.

One more comment is to consider the MagJig 95s (highly recommended) - these really are a game changer (and you can use them for other projects / uses as well):

In for one. Seems like a pretty good deal; even a cheap honing guide and stone would cost you about $20.

Does not come with the stone and guide. So no, not comparable.

That stone and guide won't be used. They're absolutely bottom of the barrel and will skew your chisels rendering them useless.

Don't see why the honing guide would be a problem, it's a pretty tried and true design. The stone is pretty low grit, but easy to supplement with a sheet of wet/dry sandpaper in higher grits. Big thing is this package gets you a case, that's very tough to beat.

How does it seem a couple days later? I'm curious if you've been able to use them yet.

Nope! Probably a long time before I need them but they are there when I do.
