Hrm... Looking at the specs again, there is no RJ-45 port. We would need to buy a dongle (so 1990s!) or live with wireless. EEK!

Looking at it, where's all the ports? On the back? Can't find a picture of the back of the laptop even on Lenovo's site. Seems odd that the P16s has a RJ-45 Ethernet but the much thicker P16 is missing one.

This is currently $2549 at Lenovo.com so this seems a pretty good deal if this is your type of laptop.

This is twice the weight, much larger, worse battery, but more performance and better graphics. Depends on your needs, but the P14s is a mobile lightweight laptop and this is a desktop replacement. P14s vs P16 is apples vs oranges.

Why so expensive? Because they CAN charge this much. Because it's price gouging -- laptop tech has mostly plateaued in the last 10 years, aside from minor incremental upgrades. They're using older components from their supply chain, to maximize profits...all the while using "global economy" to justify price increases.

A 20cent resistor increasing by 10% doesn't mean they need to raise the price of the machine by 50%. Yet...they do.

There are laptops from Dell that do away with all but one or two USB-C ports. That's it. One of them is for charging. No audio jack, no network port, no USB-A, no SD/microSD port, and even the trackpad doesn't have a border on it. They even combine the Function row of keys with the number row, just to save on dozen physical buttons. Cheapskates.

I have a gen1 P16 with relatively similar specs
Some pros are extremely good performance in solidworks, Autodesk CFD sims, etc
However, if you want a traditional laptop, be prepared to lug around the power brick, as my model lasts 2 hours on efficiency mode while on the go, and all the aforementioned softwares do not run very well in that mode.

The ports are on either side (USB-A, card reader, & audio) and across the back. Those are (barely) visible on the eBay listing but are shown and documented on the Lenovo page for this "workstation".

I have both versions of P16 from work (v1: 12th and v2:13th gen intel). These are very well built. They look quite nice and professional too. These are true desktop replacements (read uncomfortably heavy and rather large). Lenovo decided not to include a LAN port, which is really not a big deal as you'll probably hook this up to a dock on your desk. The annoying fn/ctrl key swap is arguably a bigger issue (though I think It can be changed in bios). Performance is as expected from the hardware. The markup is due to the enterprise target audience; e.g. my university only allows the Thinkpad P series to be purchased on grants. Gaming laptops including Legions are a big no-no for the IT department. They also pay another arm and a leg to CDW for pointless on-site customer support. This price is actually pretty decent compared to the MSRP, though no individual should pay that much money for these specs out of their own pocket.

I'm heavily considering this P16.... but also wanted to ask...
Any decent laptops with a Nvidia card to do basic AI/ML stuff locally, that aren't crazy desktop replacements that weigh a ton. I'm still on my Lenovo W540 (which has 32GB RAM and Nvidia GPU) and lasted 10+ years hehe, but starting to show its age.

Look at the P1 (4 pounds) or P16v (5 pounds). If you want really lightweight look at the P14s Intel v5 (with 14.5" screen and up to RTX500 graphics).
