I'm heavily considering this P16.... but also wanted to ask...
Any decent laptops with a Nvidia card to do basic AI/ML stuff locally, that aren't crazy desktop replacements that weigh a ton. I'm still on my Lenovo W540 (which has 32GB RAM and Nvidia GPU) and lasted 10+ years hehe, but starting to show its age.

I'm still rocking my old i7 Lenovo P50 as well! It's not showing its age, but it won't take Windows 10 :-(

true, but thinkpad are still top tier in term of business class level laptop compare to consumer laptop which are meant for landfill every other years.

i am glad we have big corp always lease these laptop and once they are done we all get to buy them for 1/4 of the price
Where do you buy off-lease Thinkpads for 1/4 of the price?

Apparently at their company. Bur I'm also curious where they put them back on the market. Are there liquidation companies, or maybe even Lenovo directly does that..

Look at the P1 (4 pounds) or P16v (5 pounds). If you want really lightweight look at the P14s Intel v5 (with 14.5" screen and up to RTX500 graphics).
I've bought a P14 for my son's college (engineering) on Lenovo Outlet [lenovo.com]. The prices are comparable their eBay store, but you get the same three year warranty as the new laptops, plus 14 days return window.

Seems like the RTX 2000 Ada is more of a cad card but about the same as a RTX 4060? But with less customization?
