That being said, how is the localization on this version? Did the usual suspects completely ruin it like the Persona games or is it actually playable?
Switch 2 version. Portable and 60fps. Is on sale right now for $40 (digital on the Nintendo eshop).
So do I specifically have to buy the Switch 2 edition on the eShop? Or could I use the physical version mentioned here and get the 60FPS upgrade when I pop it in my Switch 2?

Here's a breakdown of the situation:
No Upgrade Option: Konami has not announced any upgrade path for owners of the original Switch version to move to a possible enhanced "Switch 2" version.
Re-purchase Required: If a "Switch 2" version of the game exists, you'd likely have to buy it as a separate purchase.
I'm just giving people in general options. I'm buying a Switch 2. However, I don't want to spend the extra $10 and I'm not a 60fps guy (at least not for these games). Besides, as others have pointed out, it will be a game key cartridge.

Discussion
I knew this game would run at 30fps on the Switch, but I thought it wouldn't be an issue since the games are turn-based RPGs. I'm not particularly sensitive to 30 fps, and I've enjoyed plenty of 30 fps games on the Switch. But this one, oh boy. I don't know what they did exactly, but the scrolling literally hurt my eyes. I'm not familiar with technical stuff, but I suspect it's some kind of motion-blur effect that's implemented poorly.
Suikoden II is my all-time favorite, so I'm happy to have the Switch physical release. But I'm testing the game on the Steam Deck, and that one doesn't have an issue. I don't like double-dipping, but in this case, I have to. The Switch version is unplayable for me.
