As someone who has minimal pc knowledge, why isn't this getting more praise? I5, 32gb ram and 1tb storage at this price? What's the downside?
Because it's nothing special. CPU is 5 generations ago and can't compete with their AMD counterparts. RAM and SSD there's a massive oversupply right now because two chinese memory makers are dumping on the market like there's no tomorrow.

Thanks for the response. So is the beelink with i7, 24gb and 500gb storage worth the $30 more than this?

DDR4? TRASH. motherboard is out dated. badly. which is why the processor is old, going on 4 years old. ssd is only pci-e 3. 2 generations out of date. "$450" retail my @$$. I wouldn't pay more than $150 for this dinosaur. it has no future proofing or upgrade value, its old gen and stuck in the past forever. You can get a minisforum, beelink, etc with a new AMD Ryzen processor, nice new igpu, ddr5 ram, new gen motherboard, better wifi, etc for $350-450 all day. every day pricing too https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DFQ4XWV3

12th, 13th, 14th, arrow lake, lunar lake and more about to drop.
That having been said, Intel is repeating their 6th-11th gen fiasco with "basically the same thing, even moreso, and warmed over".
When they finally get to 18A and get over the Gelsinger caused "make it happen twice as fast, for half as much, and don't tell me that the quality will suffer", they might break out of the funk, butI wouldn't bet on it.

Would this be better for Plex transcoding 4k with quick sync? Compared to the AMD machine you linked to?

So 4 generations.Besides, given that the 14th gen was a refresh of the 13th gen, and arrow lake is just trying to fix the problems of moving to the meteor lake architecture, and only performs about as well as the 13th gen anyway, it's effectively 2 generations. lunar lake is the same generation as arrow lake as well. For pretty much everything I might use this low-end PC for the only important thing is a little less power draw. I definitely would consider this more for the storage than anything else.
