I could never make the coffee out of this strong enough. Clean the coffee grounds off this metal filter is messy. I end of still use paper filter over it just so I do not make a mess in the kitchen.

I think you're associating bitterness with coffee I hate when people do that coffee does not get stronger with brewing method at a certain point you extract the maximum caffeine from the grinds. Your bean type affects caffeine level also

Agree to a point, but if you percolate 30g coffee vs French press the same 30g coffee, you can definitely taste a difference (not just the bitterness)

I just use a paper filter instead on the mesh metal filter. Works fine
