Decent iPhone and New Service for a Gudp Android Veteren

20 10 June 4, 2025 at 05:36 PM
I'm approaching 20 years of grandfathered, unlimited, and unthrottled service with my androids. I'd like to have a new mid quality iPhone and a simple data plan besides verizon that won't disappoint in the new england area.

Only because my iPhone friends 'send nice' and I 'receive shitty' photos and videos.

Any recommendations are welcome.
Thanks.

This is in addition to my android!
A 2nd 'burner' phone, yes, I guess.
Or have two different platform phones. yeesh.

I've been in the iOS ecosystem for quite a few years, and have much fewer phone problems than my friends/family who use Android. As you surely know, the latest iPhones are crazy expensive and it's hard to feel like you're getting a good value with them.

Where I've found the best value is in buying new older generation or gently used iPhones as needed. My last 2 were a used 6 then a used 6S, both of which were wonderful. I tend to seek out individual sellers on eBay who have upgraded to a newer model and have a 100% operational gently used iPhone to sell. I got lucky and found a brand new unlocked iPhone SE3 5G about a year ago to stay current with 5G technology and iOS support and it's my current phone. It was $167 on eBay from seller VIP Outlet and came with full Apple warranty. It's an awesome phone as well; it has iPhone 13 technology (big time upgrade from the 6S it replaced) and is super fast and reliable for my needs. It had 3 or 4 years of Apple iOS support left when I bought it, which is a good thing to check before choosing an iPhone model.

About the time I bought the SE3, I switched to US Mobile on their Verizon network. Unlimited talk/text and 1GB data for $6 per month when purchased yearly. US Mobile has been a really good provider and I'm saving 70% off the plan I switched from. I don't use much mobile data but they have higher tier plans at good prices on all 3 major networks.

So that's how I do iPhone on the cheap. Hope that helps.
