These work great for pocket-hole jigs if you break/lose the original bit which is 6". Also come in handy for tight spaces where the head of the drill itself gets in the way.
My pan head pocket screws are square or star drive. Never saw a Phillips pocket screw.
I have these in my 1/4" impact all the time.

Same. Got these on a previous Slickdeal and they've held up great in the impact.

I love these things. My impact driver has either this or the 1/4 inch socket driver 99% of the time. I use it on everything with a Philips screw.

The Bosch 6 inch square drive bits don't work for pocket holes at all. The hex part is most of the bit, so it doesn't fit into the pocket hole. The Kreg bit is skinny the entire length of the bit and fits perfect.

I got the 2" version of these on a deal about a year ago, and I have no complaints.

I think the comment was more to highlight how crappy the phillips head design is and prone to stripping, that if you're going to put that much torque on them, its a recipe for stripping disaster. Some phillips screws of course are actually designed appropriately for a deeper bit and will work fine without stripping.

The thin torsion neck twists slightly to absorb initial acceleration of screw tip, which really helps to prevent cam out (where tip spins out of screw head, often damaging/stripping the screw head)
