Yes it should be fine as long as the heatsink is not too thick to close the dust metal plate. Follow pretty much any youtube installation guide and it will work. You will reformat it through the ps5 and itll be golden.

How much different does a gen 5 8009 MB/s vs a gen 1 580 MB/s matter realistically for gaming? What is it 1 sec load time vs 2? Or are these just important if your working with huge video files or something?

It will be a big difference during installs but almost no difference during gameplay or loading... in fact the CPU will make the most difference during loading modern games due to shader compiles.

Solid deal for the 990 Pro 2TB model with heatsink! I'm still hoping for a price drop on the 4TB again, but this is one of the best drives if you want a pre-installed heatsink.

If you don't need a heatsink, you can snag the SK Hynix P41 2TB for $125 on Newegg.com [newegg.com]. Just be sure to upgrade the firmware to fix the write speed degradation but otherwise a fantastic drive as well.

Be aware, samsung.com is sometimes a mess, when I ordered this in November, it took them 3ish months to ship it after constantly delaying the ship date on posted day of delivery.
