I love mummy bags for backpacking when I need everything compact as possible. When I am family camping, I hate them. Not comfortable, if you are able to store your gear in your car and can get away with something more roomy/bulky.

I got a Coleman North Rim 0 degree bag for some car camping trips at barely freezing temperatures and they worked well for that. They were only $40-50.

If you're using these for car camping, then you have some easy options to boost the warmth of your normal sleeping bags, like bringing along a quilt/comforter. If you're using this for backpacking, then it's a bit heavy for that and there are better options out there.

If you are cold-weather camping, I want to emphasize the importance of your sleeping pad in keeping you warm. You can read up on this online, but you need a sleeping pad/air mattress with a good r-value to keep you warm in cold weather.

If you are car camping in the winter just get a walmart mummy bag and put it in a regular rectangle bag. Its pretty warm, except the face. I have done that in -15F

I second the North Rim ones. $90 on Amazon now though. This with a sleeping pad works well under 30F. if you get too warm you can always unzip. better to be too warm than cold.
