If you don't have Mint Mobile yet and looking for a pre-paid carrier, go with US Mobile. Going to sound super shilly here, but I seriously don't understand why people aren't using US Mobile in the MVNO space. I was with Mint for about 3 years after coming off of T-mobile for a few and Verizon for almost 13 years.

Of all the services Mint Mobile had the worst bandwidth by far. I don't know all the intricacies of MVNO data tiering, but Mint Mobile has to be pretty low. I'd do side by side comparisons with T-mobile and Mint (who uses T-Mobile network), and the difference was astronomical. We're talking upwards of 80-90% slower, esp. during peak hours.
I only bothered testing in the first place to confirm my suspicions that Mint Mobile throttled because I'd literally have trouble loading websites when I was out and about.
That brings us to US Mobile. They use both Verizon and AT&T, you choose. Obviously I went w/ verizon because.. well Verizon. US Mobile has done some voodoo magic by actually securing priority data, so easily 10 times faster than Mint in almost every scenario.
You can even interchangeably switch between the two networks. Here's the zinger... alot of carriers say you can do this and that, but US Mobile web and mobile app actually make it EASY to do. Practically everything is self serve in a very clear, and easy to use interface.
If you ever have to chat support, I've never waited longer than 30 seconds to connect, and have always had someone who was polite and solved whatever issue I was having.
So 1. Fastest MVNO 2. Most flexible MVNO 3. Most featureset of any MVNO 4. best App and self-service of any MVNO 5. best customer service of any MVNO... It's also actually the same price if not cheaper than most reputable MVNO (on the annual plan).
I seriously am still trying to figure out what the deal is, for now I'm not complaining and just enjoying the solid service.
Sorry, Super Shilly I know. Swear to god I'm just an enthusiastic happy customer. Just go US Mobile.
I do not see a single deal of any kind for existing customers. I guess Mint is a place you go, get a deal, then leave to another carrier because once you're a customer, there are no more deals for you. Only new people. NOt a way to build customer loyalty. I'm a Mint customer, I got a deal 6 months ago. When my year is up I will leave Mint. Nothing else makes sense.
Basically if you buy the phone the service comes with it

There is currently a deal for existing customers. You can buy Pixel 9 for $360. And you are not forced to add any lines or change your service. I bought my Pixel 8 for $300 as existing Customer about 1 year ago

No, the multi-network add-on is something else. It's where you pay like $10 extra per month, and you can choose to have two active SIM cards on your phone at one time.
What you're referring to the option to switch between networks. The multi Network add-on lets you have multiple networks active on your phone at the same time.
I'm guessing it is the ATT and T-Mobile networks? They have roaming agreements in select areas, so it is probably just enabling that same functionality (that T-Mobile includes with their own plans by default).

Historically it has only been rural areas that didn't have good coverage from one or the other where they had those roaming agreements in place. Often it was 3G speeds. Not sure the current state of that agreement though.

Unless something has changed I don't think Verizon has roaming agreements with anyone.

Google Fi had a similar setup with T-Mobile, Sprint, and US Cellular but that is gone since Sprint and USC are gone (and people complained it was very problematic). I can see T-Mobile and ATT being a smoother experience, at least in those areas where they have the agreements.

My wife has US mobile and I have Mint and there is a significant difference and I am going to switch to US Mobile when my annual plan runs out. Wherever we go out I compare the number of bars on our respective phones and see that US Mobile has better coverage.

im wondering the same thing. i mocked up an order, went to the last page, and it only asks for billing, shipping, and payment. doesnt ask for any port in information. anyone know if the port in procedure comes with the phone package when it arrives? solid deal if i can just sign up as a new customer without porting. would suck if i end up with a the full price because i didnt port in.
port in a google voice number

Had metro t mobile and boost with att.Now got mint.In Houston area. It's definitely the worst provider.Speed is so slow and quality is really bad. Better don't buy mint.
Houston on Boost, 5G all over but actual data speed abysmal. Was travelling around Nevada, Arizona, Utah and in most places Boost had zero coverage - my phone was on SOS 70% of the time!

Tempting. Using RedPocket currently, with ATT. $180/year, so $360 for two.

Mint is T-Mobile. My son using T-Mobile in our area, and satisfied.

They are supposedly based in Pakistan. That means the U.S. government can eavesdrop on you whenever they want or see fit.

If for some reason you had trouble with copyright in the past, then U.S. Mobile opens the door to abuse by the Feds and international hackers or the likes of Microsoft, the worst company for privacy rights. They make their cybersecurity gray areas larger and enforce their intellectual property rights when given government contracts. FYI.

Can't agree, I travel a lot along the West Coast and T-Mobil's 5G network coverage goes far beyond Verizon and other carriers in the 5G spectrum, I get service in places Verizon can't reach! With that said, with Mint I get a solid 150mbps down and 25mbps up even when I travel to places like Hawaii which is quite impressive since the internet speeds from Hawaii to the mainland on Spectrum 1Gig cable service offers roughly the same speeds when testing speeds to the SF Bay area!

Are these phones unlocked? Can I get this phone and plan, and then use the SIM in a different phone, and then use this phone with Verizon?

Correction: Mint seems to be locking phones for only 60 days now since the acquisition by T-Mobile.

I'm fully prepared to port out after getting mint unlimited for 1 year for $165 with the December deal and Amex offer. They do $180 unlimited once or twice a year but for new customers only. The US Mobile BOGO offer available right now is also for new customers so hopping from carriers is the best. The businesses have no loyalty so why should we?
The BOGO is for AT&T network ONLY so if you like TMO or Verizon this is not for you.

That is impossible. They use the same towers/MNO. However USM may have higher priority than mint (which it does). If you are looking for TMO service and free phones, Fi has a deal going on w/ Pixel. Last week they had amazing service deal my bro went from $170/mo to $50/month from TMP PPD to Google Fi so maybe something else comes up. And the Google mid/high plan is also prioritized TMO (unlike Mint).
