No it's not. I recently bought this set and they are all hardcover books. Really nice, I might add.
However, if you want the treasure chest box that plays the "pa-da-da-daaaaa", good luck. At some point, they stopped including the hardware. Look through sellers and try and find an older one. I think that's what i did. I went through 3 sets before finding one with the sound thingy. Still had to change the batteries.
