Just keep in mind that if you put this in a ground floor window, it'll be a squirrel feeder. And if you put it in an upper floor window that's even remotely near anything else, it'll be a squirrel feeder. Speaking from experience.

Whelp, this is the third one of these I have ordered in the last week or so from slickdeals. Because I totally need 3 plastic bird feeder things.

EDIT: This is the wild bird food I got to go with these things... not sure if $1/lb is the best price anywhere, but it seems like a good enough deal for me to stop looking: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01B9KPVRQ

We usually buy the 40 lb bags at Walmart for about $16 along with some other things (suet cakes, sunflower seeds, etc.). We don't have any of these window type feeders, as they were a pain to maintain, but we have a number of other types of feeders including one with a solar camera attached that sends us the feed via wifi.

Thanks, good to know. Once we go through this 5 lb bag if things go well I will do that 40lbs from Walmart instead. I haven't set them up yet so I am not sure how much squirrels eat a day.

There's a 35% off extra if you set up subscription. Not sure the house and food will work. Thanks SD, never thought I'll buy this.

Funny how their video didn't show any life movements of any bird. Just lots of collages of faked pictures.

Blends like that have lots of garbage filler (millet/wheat/milo). For this style of feeder I would go with sunflowers or meal worms depending on what birds I want to attract.

The cheapest bird food can be found at an agricultural store. I buy 50# bags of chicken scratch and sunflowers. mix them in a garbage can and am good for a long time.

What are the chances of birds crashing into it mid flight?

In Florida's sun, this would probably be like an oven for birds.

I have a similar product and it is terrific as a bird feeder. Great fun to watch through the window. My puppy used to be glued to the window! The only flip side (if it matters to you), is our pest control guy warned us that the bird feed crumbs that fall down attract rodents, and those in turn attract snakes. He advised us to keep it far away from the house, which defeats the whole point of this kind of feeder. We stopped using it after that.

Just a head up, I bought one of these for my parents and one unintended consequence was a lot of bird droppings outside of their window. Great to see the colorful birds up close, but you'll be cleaning up quite often.

Very cool. Just remember to have the feeder higher up to avoid cats and squirrels.
