Best buy selling TCL Q681F for $420 which is great price for a 75" TV with full array local dimming which is lot better than this Q5 series model. IMHO if you're planning to use this in your main living room, don't compromise on full array dimming, its makes a significant difference when it comes to color contrast and gets pretty bright compared to ones that don't have local dimming. The TCL Q681F and Toshiba M550 are one of the very few models in the budget pricing range offering more value with the features you'd expect from a mid tier tv
Goodness how big is your bathroom?

I bought this television last year when Costco had it for the same price. I like the TV and I am no TV expert but whatever processor they have in this thing is slow as hell. When you turn the television on, it takes a few seconds to be able to access anything. The power button on the remote doesn't actually power off the tv. It puts it in some type of sleep mode. Some nights if i accidentally hit any button on the remote, the TV turns on and I can't immediately turn it off. I have to wait for it to fully boot up before it turns off. With all of that said, it's a decent television. I digress.
That's why I get a streaming device and never hook the TV up to the internet. It'll go right to the streaming device. Onn is the budget king currently.

I have this cheapo one for my bathroom and it works well for the room. Hope it works well in your garage too!

You have a 75" tv in your bathroom?!? πŸ’ͺ🏾πŸ”₯πŸ‘πŸΎ

Yeah it's nice for watching in the bath. Nothing super fancy but gets the job done.

Are these are these sub $400 TCL 75" tvs decent? Just looks like they're 60hz is kind of the only downside I see for the price.
I bought a TCL from Costco years ago. Works great. Much better than Hi-Sense, and at one time TCL was being regarded as "the next LG".
60hz isn't bad, you just wouldn't want to game with it. Don't expect to find something in this size with a higher refresh rate in this price range. The price is almost half-off of what they normally sell for, and about what I paid for my 55".

I bought a smaller TCL from Target years ago for my Kid's room, it wasn't great but it did the job for Nintendo. I am wondering if they have mastered the QLED since rhat time. I have traditionally purchased LG or Samsung models in the last decade.

Per Rtings:
  • 6.9 Mixed Usage
  • 6.5 TV Shows
  • 6.7 Sports
  • 7.7 Video Games
  • 6.8 HDR Movies
  • 7.9 HDR Gaming
  • 7.5 PC Monitor
The TCL Q550F is an okay TV for mixed usage. The TV's contrast is decent, but its HDR brightness is just alright, so it's not very good for dark room usage or for watching HDR content as bright highlights don't really pop, and blacks are raised whenever bright highlights are on screen. On the other hand, its SDR brightness is quite decent, and it has good reflection handling, so it's a solid pick for watching SDR content in a moderately lit room. Unfortunately, the TV has a narrow viewing angle, so it's not a good choice to use in a group setting. The smaller sizes of the TV are barebones when it comes to gaming features, although it does have VRR. Sizes bigger than 50 inches have some modern gaming features like 1080p/1440p @ 120Hz, with a wider VRR range.

Pros
  • Good reflection handling.
Cons
  • Narrow viewing angle.
  • No local dimming feature.

And that's why it would be best to shell out the extra $20 (less if you still have your BB certificate they just sent out) and buy the Q681F which has Full Array Local Dimming. Not sure why this TV is front page and that one isn't. Confused

Does the BB certificate only work on the other one and not this one? Otherwise, not sure why it would be less with cert.

Otherwise, I agree. Pay the extra $20.

Personally, I've had really bad luck with anything that runs FireTV. It feels so bloated. I got two of them about 2-3 years ago, and they're both so slow that they're unusable.

In the instruction rooms where I work, they have Cleartouch boards which are supposed to be slightly smarter than your average smart TV, they are Android based but they have major startup issues, their time out mechanisms aren't always so accurate and the remotes have very specific angles that work. I get around this using them as monitors and bringing in a host of ONN devices which are pretty useful.

No sorry, it was just a poorly worded comment by me. I should've just said don't forget to use the BB cert if you still have it.

That's cool! How do you use the ONN devices to teach, I assume that's what you do? I know Google Cast is pretty good still.
