Sure but it's overkill. Difficult to sand when dry and hard as rock. It's better for areas that will get wet and/or need to be tough

I think this is better for smaller holes/gaps/scratches.

What I do for mouse holes... I stuff a stainless steel scrubber into them (so there will not be any new mice chewing through). Then a quick squeeze of PU foam filler (like Great Stuff) to cover it all up. When dry, I cut the part that sticks out with a sharp knife or razor blade.

I use a lot of this to cover the holes in my wall that are a result of my gambling losses. Dries quickly and easy to sand over. A little paint and everything is good as new.

I thought this stuff is very soft when dried? Or am I confusing it with a different very similar looking product?

NO... this is WOOD filler, not DRYWALL filler.

I have had success with epoxy wood filler. Here is a article, the one I use is the stick.

Would this be good to use on a wooden, outdoor fence post? I had to move a gate handle, so I have 2 small holes that need some sort of patching.

In case this is a serious question, if you're talking about a hole to the outside then yes. If you're talking about a mouse hole inside your house like on Tom & Jerry then do not do that. You trap a mouse inside your drywall you'll be smelling that thing in a month trust me

It's actually an old hole. The previous owner of my home had mice. I cleaned everything out. No more mice. But now I have 2 inch hole in my cabinet under the sink. It's currently covered with duck tape, and I hate looking at it. And I can't afford to replace cabinetry so figured this might be a nice fix.
