I bought the black at 50 this year also. This price is over priced it usually sells for 99.00 but goes on sale about every other month. Hold out and don't get ripped off

This is still a pretty solid razor, but it's an early rendition of the Arc5 (2nd gen) from 2013. Newer versions have improved significantly over this model.

Tried this and the Braun. Save your money on this overpriced junk. Blade replacements are overpriced and the cut is terrible. I shave my head every other day and nothing has worked better than the Babyliss FX3 and UV double foil shaver. Gets closer than any of the more expensive ones, has great battery life, and replacement blades are cheap when you finally need to buy them (they last a long time for normal use).

I've had this for about 5 years. It shaves closer than my Braun Series 7 and never had to replace the blades. I would say that after 2-3 weeks of daily shaving, hair builds up between the blade fins and I would use a floss toothpick to scrape out the buildup between the blade fins. This happens if you don't clean it often enough. I think the 5 blade head is just too big as it wasn't that effective in shaving the area between your lips and nose. The only part that wore out physically on the shaver body was the black area above the power button. It is some kind of thin rubberish texture. It still struggles for hairs around the neck/jawline just like other shavers as it requires multiple passes. I only stopped using it because the battery was getting weaker and weaker and had to charge 2-3 days. I've never had to get it serviced/repaired, but I hear it may be more cumbersome than Norelco/Braun since it's a mail-in service where you likely have to pay for shipping.

Admittedly I am a Panasonic user since I bought my first electric razor, I am buying Philips next round for their outstanding pro-consumer choice to start Philips Fixables. Philips Fixables will allow users to be able to 3D print their own replacement parts for Philips products, using exact Philips specifications, at home. The plan is for Philips to put the files up on Printables.com.
