Runs off the WiZ app, not compatible with Phillips HUE app.
Have a hard time trusting Phillips wifi products, I've had quite a few that have all failed with a couple of years.

5 bucks a bulb is pretty good, although I haven't tried the Wiz app.

No hue app sounds like sneaky way of installing microphone in your home.

These are much cheaper for me to run in the back yard. I have 3 lamp posts with 2x on each one for lighting up the ground at night but they're on a hard-to-access flip switch. There's a wireless access point in the back and my current 2 Wiz bulbs (thanks Home Depot clearance) connects to it just fine. These work decently with Home Assistant.

Do these need a hub to work?

Nope. They're wifi bulbs. You'll need a decent wifi signal for them to connect to and maintain it.

That goes for every brand. Don't even get me started on IKEA or NanoLeaf bulbs, lol.

Gotta be an improvement form the original Hue bulbs which require a physical "Bridge" that should have been an app.
