There's no choice with a Lunar Lake system as the RAM is embedded in the CPU package.

These kind of laptops have always been like that for a long time. Even gaming laptops now comes with soldered ram.

You are getting 8533mhz ddr5 memory that push 140v to time spy 4000+. I wouldn't call it "not desirable". That's the future sadly.

Also, the CPU performs worse than a 12400H. Just be aware.

Are the quality of these refurb laptops generally hit or miss? Should I purchase several, keep the best and return the rest?

I bought 3 from Acer in the past and they all arrived looking new and low battery cycles. Like didn't have any issue but my sample is small...

Yeah I still have my refurb AMD laptop that was pretty much this but a year older and it was basically flawless. This is a pretty crazy deal the 16gb of ram and the bad speakers is the only downside but aside from that this is really cheap for an amazing screen and a lunarlake chip. IF you want a lightweight 120hz oled with good battery life you aren't going to find an x86 one cheaper than this probably. I never saw the old AMD version (Swift edge 16) of this drop below 700 and this is a much better laptop overall (Larger battery much higher efficiency) imo.

After a ton of research I bought this laptop new and I love it. Lunar Lake battery is great. Screen is beautiful.

Downsite is 16gb soldered ram, but honestly you aren't getting anywhere near this battery life size and screen for withing $400 of this price with 32gb.

However new is $850 from best buy. Personally I'd prolly pay the extra $210 for new, but personal preference.

Apple has been doing this on all their products and the masses are buying them like hotcakes. 16GB is great for the average person and the benefit from having the ram on chip is noticeable. At least the disk drive is still upgradeable.

This "design" choice is not about speed. If you can make any argument for laptops, it would be the space saving benefit.

At least they're not doing 8 GB soldered anymore. But the premium they charge to go from 16 GB to 32 GB is absurd.
