It's made by Sauder. The name speaks for itself.

The price is right, but understand what you're getting. This is cheap veneers on top of particle board (or something similar). It's the sort of thing that chips when you accidently brush against it with something that isn't soft.

Long story short, you get what you pay for. This is perfect for someone on a budget, that wants something pretty to store stuff in, that will used rarely. But don't expect it's going to hold up under heavy use. If that's your intention, go with the black color so you can cover up dings easily with a sharpie.

No. Note "manufactured wood construction" this is particle board or something similar, and is not good quality. Either buy used or new real solid wood if you want good quality.

Goof luck finding ANY solid wood furniture for under $1K. The way is to find USED items at state sales.
Nowadays the norm for expensive furniture is MDF/HDF with a veneer finish !!

I am 100% all for DIY, but for something like this just the materials alone will cost you more than 2/3s of what this retails for. And it would take a beginner/intermediate person what at least 6 hours to research how-to, buy, and to cobble something like this? I'd rather spend $40 for someone to cut/drill/etc this for me Wink.

What's wrong with Sauder? I had a few computer desks by Sauder probably 15-20 years ago and they were super heavy, solid, and long lasting. I thought it was a good brand?

Yeah but you don't have to deal with particleboard. (Though you're right, even plywood is significantly more expensive than you'd expect.)

My landing in the Kreg Jig owner's culture quickly showed me I was a circular saw away from getting lots better furniture for just a little more trouble than assembling something from Ikea.

Not a bad deal at all.

This kind of furniture is so hit or miss. I wish real wood furniture wasn't so expensive anymore.
