That's verbiage designed to confuse you. What "when using Duracell 1300 mAh or up to 2500mAh (included)" really means is the 1300mah battery is included and the charger can work for up to 2500mah aa batteries.

Look at the Amazon product page with a larger picture. It clearly shows 1300 mah for the AA batteries. https://www.amazon.com/batteries-...9LDB5?th=1
This is not at all a good charger. It charges pairs of batteries in series. Not each battery directly. So if you have use cases where you use odd numbers of batteries, you'll have to wait till you have an even number of batteries to charge. The other Energizer one is the same thing so not any better though the batteries are better.

Also just by design when you charge in series like this unless both batteries are exactly the same capacity and charge level (unlikely due to sample variation) you will overcharge one and try still possibly undercharge the other.

I had this as my first charger and batteries. Really both the charger and the batteries are mediocre. I'd start with something like this: https://slickdeals.net/f/18369502-powerowl-rechargeable-aa-aaa-batteries-with-fast-charger-17-99-amazon?src=rcm_disco_rec_eng_threads_h

That's at least a single channel charger and the batteries are better than this in specification and at worst similar quality for longevity/failure. From there you can always buy better batteries if you want to later on but the charger will be acceptable to keep.
This has been mentioned before in previous threads for this product. Just be aware that the included AA batteries are only 1300 mah.

If you have an Ikea nearby I would recommend their rechargeables and charger.

At least as recently as last year, they were selling Ladda "Made In Japan" cells around this price and with higher capacity. I believe they still are.

Their $7 charger charges cells individually. A 4-pack of 1900 mAH (hopefully "Made in Japan") AA cells is $8. The 4-pack of 2450 mAH AA cells is $10.

I believe there are two factories in Japan that make NiMH cells (Panasonic/Eneloop and FDK/Fujitsu) and both make cells that are superior in longevity/durability to cells made in China. Buying "Eneloop" brand should guarantee cells from Japan but are generally expensive. If Ikea still has "Made In Japan" cells then one would be crazy to gamble on Chinese cells for a tiny cost savings.

The big brands are regularly sourcing cells from different places, and at times Duracell, Energizer, and even Amazon Basics were selling some "Made in Japan" cells but I believe currently all three of those are sourcing cells from China.

Yeah, I've been using the Ikea Chargers and batteries for about 3 years and been really happy with them. They run all my trail-cams extremely well.

twicell, the factory you speak of, is one, sanyo owned it and sold it to panasonic. and it later became FDK

I've own a bunch of Eneloop batteries and randomly picked up a pack of Duracell's on a sale once. The Duracell's are all dead. The Eneloops are all still chugging along.
at one point, duracells were duraloops, rebadged eneloops with white tops. The black top duracells are MIC and pretty crappy.

Sounds like a mediocre charger with just okay batteries. Cheap is cheap... but doesn't mean it's good. 750mAh for AAA and 1300mAh for AA are both kinda low. Most regular AA nimh you'll find are 2000 to 2800mAh. The ones around 1000mAh are generally for low power use like solar garden lights or such.

Current Amazon price is $24.99 so a great price.
The $24.99 price is also from Woot, so really can't compare the two. Just one seller with two prices for the same item... but yes, $24.99 is more of a regular price for this. Maybe a better benchmark is that it's been $15 on sale in the past (and was still a frontpage deal).

How is the actual charger? Or the Everyready charger in the other deal mentioned?

Not a great charger.

All my Duracell NiMH rechargeables failed within 1 to 3 years. Duracell does not stand behind their warranty and offer small value coupons in lieu of replacement or refund.

I bought this before about same price a couple years. A couple things. The included batteries aren't even half as good as the amazon basics rechargeables. Also the charger is very inconsistent. So two of them charge faster and the other slower, and depending on the battery you use, the slower charger could potentially not charge it all the way. I was wondering why some batteries were showing more power than others all the time. I ended up getting an EBL battery charger and it's supremely better than this.

That's definitely a more compelling deal. The Amazon Basics batteries may not be the best quality but they're a good value.

Just because the cells are made in Japan does not guarantee they're good quality. Some of the worst NiMH batteries I've used were made in Japan. Actual Panasonic/Sanyo Eneloop branded cells do tend to be extremely high quality, however even the supposedly rebranded ones can be questionable. The three I'm aware of that still seem to (at least sometimes) be rebranded Eneloops are the IKEA LADDA, Watson MX/CX), and various Fujitsu models. I've seen definite duds in the Watson line.

The Energizer 2000mAh and 2300mAh tend to be made in Japan but are definitely not rebranded Eneloops. In my testing, the 2000mAh are good but the 2300mAh are junk. The 1350mAh version (generally sold under the Rayovac brand or as pack-ins with Energizer chargers) are made in China. All the modern Duracells I've seen are made in China. Amazon Basics are a mix of made in China and made in Malaysia. Their quality varies quite a bit but I think their price makes them a compelling value. I haven't seen any others that come close in price, without having outright fraudulent ratings (EBL, PowerOwl, etc.).
