Be forewarned, I thought the same. Bought the 256GB version of this before when they were listed for about $15.

Failed after 1 month of occasional use. While Amazon refunded the value of the drive. Lost the data on the drive which has far more value

Ok, so I have to buy a $20 enclosure. Then buy a separate SSD drive. Then I need to carry a USB C cable with me. And the enclosure is thicker than the thumb drive. Or you can just buy that super fast thumb drive for $25-$30 instead. Like what are we even doing here? 🤣😂😭
Good lord you sound like those people in commercials that can't crack an egg without a $30 device.
These things are at minimum 25x faster than your thumb drive. The enclosures are $12, and they're about 1/2 inch thick. Somehow you manage to carry your phone and wallet and car keys and that condom from 1987, so I think you can manage a USB cable. Well, most of us can.

Literally no one does what you are proposing. You are over engineering a problem to a solution that is cheaper and easier to use. You HAVE to be a Linux user. I know your kind. 🫵🏻😂

Ugh. You HAVE to be a virgin since you think sticking part A into Part B is considered over engineering. I'm surprised you can read this website on your Atari 400.

write speeds are advertised much higher in the sandisk though does it really get 380 mb/s?
Yeah, it's the gold standard for DJing where you constantly need to write new tracks and reading is important because you might have 2-4 tracks being read continuously in a live environment

I don't know if you have some golden samples or if I got a bunch of duds, but the Samsung readers are not even reliable for me. I got two of them that came from two different Samsung Pro Plus microSDs. The first one won't even detect reliably; i.e., it keeps showing up and then disappearing in Windows every 3-4 seconds. The second one sort of works because it does get detected, but if I try to copy a large file, I start getting errors. Other card readers and other devices work fine in the same USB ports.
There's definitely something weird going on there. The speed makes me suspicious it's only linking at USB 2.0 speed. The error could indicate random disconnects. Maybe there's a compatibility issue between your PC and the reader. I've had nothing but good luck with these adapters. Have you tried it with another PC? Do the Samsung cards work in other readers, even if not quite at full speed? Did you use the Samsung app to verify their authenticity?

NVMe is real world 300-500MB/s. This drive is 30MB/s at best in real world and it seems some here are saying it even drops to a pathetic 10MB/s. That's slower than Internet in Africa. It's a total no brainer. The drives are smaller, cheaper, and you probably have a usbc cable with your cell phone also unless you're using an ancient phone. Just search 128gb nvme 2230 in eBay to find cheap drives. You probably need to buy more than 1 to get to $6 but you definitely don't need to buy 10. If not, enjoy your sub-third world technology.

Read that comment, then click the Amazon link, then read the reviews. Then get back to me. 😉

A worthwhile product indeed, but still expensive and large compared to nvme drives. This is basically an nvme drive with a usb connector attached to it. You have redeemed yourself to a degree.
