So easy to add a line for a family member or if you have family traveling from out of the country and they need a sim just add a line and use as long as needed and then delete the line. Let's you choose any plan for additional lines.
I have the 10gb $19 plan and unlimited data is only $25. Only complaint is they are now charging $3 for an eSIM which I wasn't too happy about.
Good luck if you have issues.

Overall, very happy with the service. I haven't had any issues (porting over number, bad customer service, etc.), and the flexibility of adjusting your plan is a nice feature. Having to renew your plan manually at least 24 hours in advance (before their auto-renew feature kicks in) to rollover unused minutes and data is a minor pain to keep track of, but only takes 2 minutes (and you can have Tello email you 48 hours before the auto-renewal)
I only pay $7-8/month for 100 minutes and 2GB of data each month, and with the rollover, perfect for my needs. Not worth the time and effort to look for a better deal.

How their system works is like this.... when you pay for a month of service, the GBs of data and minutes are added to your balance. If the account automatically renews at the end of the 30 days, your balances are zeroed out and the new GB/minutes are added in. If you change your plan BEFORE the renewal date, the balances are NOT zeroed out, the new GB/minutes are added to whatever you had. So, if you're diligent and ALWAYS do this before the 30 days are up AND you change from the current plan to a new plan, you can "bank" your unused data, effectively turning it all into rollover.
For me, I start with a 15GB plan with 100 minutes. With taxes here in Indiana, it's $22 and change. I have a Google Calendar reminder set for every 29 days. When that day comes, I change my plan to the 1GB + 100 minutes. From that point onward, I alternate between 1GB ($7) and 2GB ($8) plans. If you run low on data, just do a 15GB renewal whenever you need it (you do NOT have to wait for Day 29), then restart your 1GB-2GB-1GB schedule from that day forward. I'm 15 months in, I've paid a total of $150 ($10/month) and I currently have 23GB and 1590 minutes banked. I've only had to "plus-up" the balance once, when we had a weeklong blackout last June and I used the hotspot to stream music.
It takes discipline. If you miss a date, your balances will reset and you'll lose your banked data. Also, you have to add the minimum number of minutes (in this case, 100) to have ANY ability to use the phone for emergency calls that month. I'm not necessarily looking to bank minutes, but if I try to cheap out one month by saving a buck to not buy minutes - that'll end up being the month that I'll need them. I do this because my primary phone is an ATT MVNO, and having a backup on a different network is a plus. If your primary phone is already on TMO, having the ability to call/text from the hotspot phone isn't that important - you could save that buck and just buy data.
I know this is a long post, sorry. To summarize it in simple terms:
- Pay for a one month 15GB plan (recommend adding 100 minutes)
- Set a reminder to change your plan every 29 days, the day BEFORE auto-renewal will happen
- On that day, CHANGE YOUR PLAN to 1GB
- From that point forward, alternate plans every 29 days between the 1GB and 2GB plans (UPDATE: It is not necessary to change plans on alternate months! Just renew the 1GB plan. - Thanks MtF4392 (see next post)!)
- If you run low on data, do a single 15GB update whenever you need it, then repeat this scheme
Edited to Add: This scheme will NOT work with any of the Unlimited plans. You have to have a specific number of GBs (and minutes) when you renew. Unlimited plans ignore your balances, so their system will set the balances, giving you nothing to rollover.
Peace out.

I'm uncertain that's correct.
My understanding is that if you don't change your plan, you're effectively "renewing", which would result in zeroing out the balances without any carryover. It's the changing of plans from month-to-month that results in the new balances being ADDED to your current balances.
I'm happy to be wrong.... but I don't think I am. I'll go read the specifics on their site, unless you have first-hand experience you're leaning on?
As to the minutes - you're right, but so am I. If you don't buy any minutes, then you can't make any calls. I don't need to bank minutes, I only need to have the hotspot available in an emergency for calling/texting. My primary phone is on ATT, Tello is on TMO. If I'm driving somewhere where ATT is unavailable, my hotspot -might- have service. If both were on the same network there'd be no reason to have minutes. But since the hotspot is on a different network than my primary, it CAN be used in an emergency, so buying the minimum number of minutes for the hotspot when I renew the data makes sense (for me). I don't care that they roll over.... I've used only 10 minutes of service in 15 months... and average of 1.3 seconds per day.
If changing plans:
"This option will immediately replace your existing plan with the new one selected. You will be charged today for the new plan. Automatic renewal will be in 30 days time. Any remaining balance from a service you are renewing will roll over. Any remaining balance from a service you are excluding from the new plan will expire at the original expiration date"
If prematurely renewing an existing plan:
"This option renews your current plan immediately - earlier than the original renewal date. The new billing cycle will start today, you will be charged now and the automatic renewal will be in 30 days. Any remaining balances will roll over automatically."
So, MtF4392 seems to be correct - toggling between 1GB and 2GB plans are not apparently necessary. The key is just to NOT allow automatic renewals every 30 days - go into your account every 29th day and either renew the existing 1GB plan (or toggle between 1GB/2GB plans if you're leery - like me) and you should be able to carry your unused data forward.
Thanks for the info!
Unused service WILL roll over ONLY if you manually renew or change your plan at least 24 hours before the end of your current billing cycle and ONLY if the new plan contains all the services that you previously had.
Edit: oops, just saw your response. Sorry, don't see a way to delete my comment.
Either changing or renewing before the plan automatically renews allows carryover. https://tello.com/help_center/wil...anguage=e
Thanks to everyone for repeatedly pointing out the invalid assumption in my post #18372193, which I caught and corrected in my mea culpa post 6 minutes later.
If anyone else want to dog-pile, please indulge yourselves! Lol.
