My understanding is that you lose some performance if you go for 4 sticks of memory rather than 2, so if you're planning on having 64GB of RAM, you'd probably be better off avoiding this deal (unless you've got another place to use 2x16GB sticks)

Does the new BIOS fix the frying of the CPU's?

Did a deep dive into this vs the tomahawk board I was considering, although this has better VRMs and other nice features. It has a less ideal lane sharing setup in which the 2nd m.2 slot shares lanes with PCIE_1 and PCIE_2 effectively halving the x16 lanes to x8 for PCIE_1 (unless you avoid using the 2nd m.2 slot and x8 slot)
The M2_2 slot will be unavailable when using Ryzen™ 8500/ 8300 Series processors.
**USB 40Gbps Type-C ports on the back panel and M2_2 slot share PCIe 5.0 x4 bandwidth. Both run at PCIe 5.0 x2 when a device is installed in the M2_2 slot. You can switch M2_2 to PCIe 5.0 x4 in the BIOS, but this will disable the USB 40Gbps Type-C ports. The USB4 host controller supports up to PCIe 4.0 x4.

but you have to deal with that with the Tomohawk board.

Running the GPU in x8 instead of 16 would really only affect someone with a 5090, since PCIE 5 x8 is the same as pcie 4 x16, and the 5090 only loses 0-3% performance loss on pcie4

Better than the $700 MC bundle? I know people don't love the G.Skill memory they use but it's rated same speed.... I guess assumes one has a local MC which I do.
I would always choose gskill over corsair ram, if it wasn't in the combo i would definitely be getting some lower CL gskill ram, and still may get it lol

and the MC combo uses a lower tier mobo than this one

Check out the Rufus utility. You can use it to install 11 without HW restrictions and even create a local user account (no MS account)

That's what they are saying. They used aggressive default voltages.

It's not so much a performance loss using all 4 slots. It's that XMP and trying run higher than what your ram XMP is rated at gets unstable and starts crashing you out while gaming. While using all 4 slots. Or if you really mess up the ram OC then you won't even post and will have to clear CMOS.Was going to wait for zen 6 but now its looking like Q4 26. If this was like $100 less.
It's common knowledge to overclocking community and some pc building community that putting together unpaired DDR5 and running the XMP/EXPO ratings they are rated at (even if two pairs / 4 total sticks is all rated the same) is like shooting to the moon almost close to impossible. Some lucky people have done it but it's VERY rare. This is a strong contrast to DDR4 which you can safely do so and add unpaired but rated the same modules. I STRONGLY advise you don't add another unpaired sticks of DDR5 if you want to run the XMP/EXPO speed and timing that they're rated at unless you know how to overclock and/or stabilize memory modules.
This is due to DDR5 having 1) two channels of 32 bit lanes instead of one channel of 64 bit lanes for each stick - so two different bi-directional signaling, 2) With the aforementioned doubling of signals running, the signals get affected as the motherboard traces all become active and introduce more noise when you start using all lanes with 4 sticks as opposed to two, and lastly 3) The PMIC or Power Management Integrated Circuit is now separated into each of the sticks instead of a single one residing on motherboard - so at higher speeds, the memory modules may have a harder time being in sync together and this is compounded by having 4 different PMICs controlling 4 different power management for each of the modules.
And this problem is not just Intel nor AMD. It's with both and regardless if you have better IMC in your new processor like the 9800x3d. You can even see tech youtubers like Linus' giveaway that was built in Taiwan (twice now with one of his latest videos) and Tech Notice also has the same problem from the very beginning: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pmCRg3jvfIk
TDLR: I suggest, don't add another pair of DDR5 that is unmatched even if they are the same brand UNLESS you know how to overclock memory. You have to get all 4 sticks bundled together if you don't know how to overclock or you're just wasting money buying XMP rated sticks that you have to run JEDEC / wayyy slower specs of the memory.

Thank you that was helpful! Just getting back into this realm after 10+ yrs

You don't lose any noticeable performance. It just makes it harder to overclock memory. It won't matter for 99% of people buying this.
