One of my most used Dewalt battery tools, very worthwhile light to have around for all sorts of projects
Have had this light for years - love it for working on many things as it is quite bright.
Yep, this is the one you want out of all the dewalt lights. I have them all, and this is the go-to.

Yep, and it has a retractable hook on the top so you can hang it from a nail in a tree or something similar to act as a directional lantern.

I got this on the last woot round, it is bright, I really like it.

Yes it's not everything and not perfect. Will it sit at the perfect angle under your car? Maybe not. Can you slap it under your hood like the neiko light with adjustable end clamps or magnet? Definitely not. Maybe not as great from a garage scenario where you would likely have a specific lighting situation for specific tasks, but I appreciate how bright it is with battery packs I already have so it hits at a price point much higher when you would need to pay for a battery. Battery is usually the first to go, both on a charge and at end-of-life. On a charge this is easily swappable if you already have batteries. When batteries get old, you don't have to open it up and find new lithium cells of the right size to solder in, just buy another DeWalt 20v that also works with your other tools.
I like it for table-top or bench top detailed work where I want a TON of light, I can easily bring it wherever I go, I can use it at night to let my dogs into the yard and see where I'm going. Could use it at a camp site, table top, illuminate a small work area. It's not lightweight, and if your surface is not flat it might not be the most stable. For $35-38, why not?

I have this and it's a good quality light and does stay standing nicely with a 5ah battery as you twist the neck.
But honestly I use it mostly for auto work, and I find it hard to position. I'm going to try a magnet light or even one of those old school snake lights. This just always feels in the way when using under a car or especially under the hood.
Also I don't like the hook. Once you pull it out to hook on something, it's loose, so you can't fix adjust it to make the thing point in a certain direction very 'authoratively'... tends to just hang back.

but it's a good bright light and I use it for plenty.

I own two of these, gotten from the last two woots, so don't need a 3rd, but these lights are great.
Awesome light output, 100% flood with NO hotspots (like the other dewalt lights). This is great for lighting up areas you are working in with equal light spread.

There's an argument that dedicated flashlights will give you better performance and there is some truth to that argument. The specific benefits of this are:

Flood light. When doing work you want your whole work area lit up evenly rather than one spot brightly lit. This has a nice even flood.

Orientation. The heavy battery keeps it in place and the adjustable neck allows you to point the light where you need it.

Battery. If you are in the Dewalt ecosystem, you likely have a bunch of battery sitting around already. They are also quite large, meaning you don't have to worry about the battery running out of power.

It's a good flashlight for somebody already in the Dewalt ecosystem. Otherwise there are similar or better alternatives for less money.
Great summary.

I've got 2 of these and love them. I also already have 5 compatible Dewalt batteries ranging from 1.5 to 6 Ah. So these lights are a great fit. These excel when the power goes out, working in the attic, or griddling at night.

If you're already in the Dewalt battery eco-system and not too focused on minimalism, these lights are a great addition to your household. If not, it's not worth getting these plus a battery.

Can you recommend something better for less money with similar functionality? I need one and I'm not in the Dewalt Ecosystem.

Better is up to you - Harbor freight has solid options if you're looking for standalones (Braun, Icon etc. depending on your flavor) - commenting because depending on your use you might be 'better' served with a headlamp, I have a fenix rechargeable (specifically the HM70R - $99 - which is what OP product would cost you, at least, if you also bought a battery) there are other options out there though but think about what you will use the light for the most, a good headlamp is worth its weight so you don't have to keep readjusting a standalone light - I went with the 70 series for the options which has paid for itself in my use case and I have abused it, they have cheaper options in that brand (the 50($60) &60($80) series are also good just different - don't just look into that one brand of course but different lights can really turn you on

Thanks OP for the deal, in for 1, I still rock a headlamp but mo light mo better

I have a few of these types of lights and my Ridgid one, the flat head one with tons of individual little LEDs that swivels is by far my favorite. Loved it so much I have two. You can get them for very good prices at the outlet store.

Sweet. I'm going to add another light to my collection of dewalt dcl077b, 2xdcl182, dcl183, m12 rover, and some
Cheapo amazon ones that are good for shoving into small places in cars when working on them.
