Yep, and it has a retractable hook on the top so you can hang it from a nail in a tree or something similar to act as a directional lantern.
Yes it's not everything and not perfect. Will it sit at the perfect angle under your car? Maybe not. Can you slap it under your hood like the neiko light with adjustable end clamps or magnet? Definitely not. Maybe not as great from a garage scenario where you would likely have a specific lighting situation for specific tasks, but I appreciate how bright it is with battery packs I already have so it hits at a price point much higher when you would need to pay for a battery. Battery is usually the first to go, both on a charge and at end-of-life. On a charge this is easily swappable if you already have batteries. When batteries get old, you don't have to open it up and find new lithium cells of the right size to solder in, just buy another DeWalt 20v that also works with your other tools.
I like it for table-top or bench top detailed work where I want a TON of light, I can easily bring it wherever I go, I can use it at night to let my dogs into the yard and see where I'm going. Could use it at a camp site, table top, illuminate a small work area. It's not lightweight, and if your surface is not flat it might not be the most stable. For $35-38, why not?
But honestly I use it mostly for auto work, and I find it hard to position. I'm going to try a magnet light or even one of those old school snake lights. This just always feels in the way when using under a car or especially under the hood.
Also I don't like the hook. Once you pull it out to hook on something, it's loose, so you can't fix adjust it to make the thing point in a certain direction very 'authoratively'... tends to just hang back.
but it's a good bright light and I use it for plenty.
Awesome light output, 100% flood with NO hotspots (like the other dewalt lights). This is great for lighting up areas you are working in with equal light spread.
Flood light. When doing work you want your whole work area lit up evenly rather than one spot brightly lit. This has a nice even flood.
Orientation. The heavy battery keeps it in place and the adjustable neck allows you to point the light where you need it.
Battery. If you are in the Dewalt ecosystem, you likely have a bunch of battery sitting around already. They are also quite large, meaning you don't have to worry about the battery running out of power.
It's a good flashlight for somebody already in the Dewalt ecosystem. Otherwise there are similar or better alternatives for less money.
I've got 2 of these and love them. I also already have 5 compatible Dewalt batteries ranging from 1.5 to 6 Ah. So these lights are a great fit. These excel when the power goes out, working in the attic, or griddling at night.
If you're already in the Dewalt battery eco-system and not too focused on minimalism, these lights are a great addition to your household. If not, it's not worth getting these plus a battery.

Sorry no, illegal to use while camping.
Cheapo amazon ones that are good for shoving into small places in cars when working on them.
