You can apply rewards discount from AmEx and discover on top of it. I got 10$ on 1 card and 10% off another card on top of the 10$. Purchased 100$ gift card for 80$.

Yes, i have 5 accounts and had $10 off $75 with discover and 10% off $100 with Amex on all five. Took a bit of work but got $1000 worth for $800. Not as easy as the good old days of just buying them from Costco or Sam's, but the math almost works out the same (just no 2% cashback at Costco).

Anyone else getting a "promotion invalid" error when trying to apply their GC? I got 9 successfully, then the last 2 arent working. had some payment issues at amazon as well for these two.
