Better off paying double for the G40XMN

How so? It's pretty similar in specs except the G40XMN is a VA panel vs an IPS for this one.

"Better off paying double" is a crazy statement. "Hey, while you're at it, go ahead and pay quadruple for an OLED!"

Because specs don't tell the full story. The AOC is miniLED so more dimming zones give you better contrast. That's important for HDR be it in media consumption or gaming. It also gets much brighter, also important for HDR. Better blacks.

I thought IPS was always better but after buying the AOC VA with local dimming zones and setting up HDR in Nvidia control panel my IPS HDR400 monitor that I paid $215 a year ago looked like dog turd next to the AOC. The AOC can flash bang your eye balls if you crank up the brightness. Only thing oled has is the perfect blacks and infinite contrast but then you have to worry about burn-in and ABL for daily use. Plus the cost 3x the AOC. I got it for $250 but honestly $300 is still a steal for what u get.

No. HDR is more important than 4k or 8k. I'd rather watch 1080p with HDR than 4k without HDR anyday.

VAs are plagued with awful black smearing unless you buy the expensive models... at which point might just buy an OLED

AOC is a no name budget brand. This one probably is too though.

Asrock is far from a no name budget name though
