what is a good brand for these things? got a no name amazon digital thermometer once and it gave different readings from old fashioned one.

Name brands (Braun, GE, etc) generally carry better warrantys and customer service but in my experience they all work pretty much the same and are reasonably accurate. It's more important to ensure you're getting good placement of the tip (either back corner underneath the tongue. It's also important to become familiar with your thermometer and if possible compare it to what readings are when you visit a healthcare facility as some slight discrepancies are fairly common on home use thermometers and that can be mitigated by knowing what sort of discrepancy you're working with.

To add to this. 103+ is moreso for adults and only if your fever isn't responding to medication. With kids as long as their temperature is staying under 104/is responding to medication they're ok to stay at home. 2 of my 3 kids run temperatures in the low-mid 103's at times when sick and I've always been told by healthcare professionals that it's not really until 104+ and medication not helping that they start to become concerned. Dehydration is usually the biggest concern so keep kids hydrated however you can when they're sick

Everyone should have 4. One for each hole and arm pit. Take the avg to get a more accurate result

I recommend multiple of you plan to do both oral and rectal. Make sure they are labeled too..
