If you're near north east united states, Microcenter has Mac Mini M4 for $449.

This is a better deal since it's tax free.

True and I'm a veteran but for non-veterans the NJ Microcenter location is only 3 percent sales tax and since it's $20 less, it pretty much evens out

Apple's military/veteran discount stacks with their certified refurbished pricing. While the base model is cheaper through the Exchange, the 24GB version is actually less expensive through Apple at $764:

You'll need to be authenticated through ID.me to see the military pricing. If you're in the right place, you'll see a gray banner at the top that says "Veterans and Military Store Home."

I've bought my last three Macs this way, and all of them were like new. It's especially great for finding deals on custom configurations, which rarely go on sale otherwise.

Apple's base systems are a decent price. If you want a higher spec system....I used Apple for over 30 years and the reliability in those years was not great. I've had no problem switching to Windows, Linux and ChromeOS and the hardware (usually business laptops) has been great. I used to be a dye-in-the-wool fan, but realized our PCs at work always worked and never saw a blue screen of death. Did see the spinning (MacOS) beach ball of death frequently. Our last couple of Macs had serious issues. Anyway, if you want 32GB RAM and 1TB system, you will pay through the nose with a Mac. The great thing about Windows and Linux is all the utilities that simply are not there in Apple land. Macs are okay, just don't care for them, anymore.

At $764 do you still pay taxes?

Yeah, Apple still has to charge sales tax, so depending on where you live, that can range from nothing to a total deal-breaker, unfortunately.

ah makes sense, guess itll depend on the situation whether aafes or apple store will be more expensive for the 24gb model. Thank you for putting that into light, was thinking about getting the 24gb model for a friend.

Keep in mind Apple OSs are much more efficient than their Windows equivalent, I would say 16GB in MacOS is equivalent to 24GB on Windows, and 24GB MacOS is equivalent to 36GB on Windows. I feel like Apple gives 50% more bang for ram. Apple never kept around all the legacy support like MS did, and keep in mind I'm a Windows guy, not an Apple user, so I'm not bias towards them.

PS: I ordered the base level model, this will be my first Apple computer, if I don't like it, I can pretty much sell it for what I paid on FB Marketplace, and I don't need much storage because all my files are on a NAS.

First of all, that's BS about the RAM.

Also, if you don't like it, why wouldn't you just return it?
