Slickdeals title search feature - PLEASE FIX IT

The search function gets worse every time I try to use it. I'm currently searching for "Pixel" in the title only. Slickdeals is returning hundreds of results that don't have "Pixel" in the title, but in the description. The thousands of words in the item description are absolutely not part of the title.

Please fix.

Same problem for me, I am searching for NVME.

I do wish there were an option to default searches for TITLE ONLY rather than title and first post.

Thanks for the feedback. I've passed it along to the dev team. We recognize there have been some growing pains with this transition but there are tickets in place and they are actively working to improve title search and other core functions.

Having the same issue trying to search previous threads for how to insert a picture in my deal posts. Currently in place is the default SD image. Searching 'pictures in post' turns up 602 results of picture deals. I tried clicking 'advanced search' and that auto-redirects to the deals front page! 🥲

Welcome to slickdeals and thanks for your willingness to post a deal! as you make your way through the post a deal form the final step allows for image attachment. typically it will populate some images you can select from from whatever your deal url was but you can still upload your own

I hope this gets fixed soon. Poor search functionality could end up being the downfall of the site as it dramatically decreases the signal to noise ratio and makes coming to this site less worthwhile.

Sad but probably true. I hope not since there aren't any other good deals discussion sites that I know of. Hopefully the owners can fix the search function, increase the signal to noise, and turn it around soon.

I searched for Refrigerator and chose Title Only. Most of the results I get do not have the word refrigerator, or fridge, in the title. So... Why am I getting these useless results?

The team is still actively working on making search more reliable. As to what changed, on top of an overall search overhaul for the entire site, Classic was using a much older version of search, so part of the work being done has been to bring all of the search pages more inline with each other.

Can you please share a specific search URL that isn't working as expected for you? Live examples really help the team track down and work on these issues.

There are examples above. This is more than frustrating to think the staff don't understand this issue as if they never use the site.

Search by TITLE does not work. It's that simple.

Thank you. The team looked at this and it seems like the issue is with the Sort by: Thread Start Date (top left corner of search). If you change it to Sort by: Relevance, it looks like the results are a lot better, but the results aren't in order anymore. For now, my suggestion is do Sort by: Relevance and then restrict the time period to something recent, like within the last month to filter out some of the noise.

They will work on updating how Sort by: Thread Start Date works.
