the only time microfiber would be advantageous, is if you somehow wanted it to be a little more scratchy and not absorb water very well. maybe there is a use case for this, I just don't know what it is.

Cotton fibres are hollow and they can hold as much as 24–27 times their own weight in water.
Microfibre towels that have split fibres also hold water but only about 7 times their own weight so they're nowhere near as good as cotton when it comes to absorbing water.
everyone is trying hard as they can to say positive things about microfiber in general, pushing the limits of theory with saying it may work as well as cotton.
thats not something to write about though. theoritically if the microfiber is perfect, it may compete with cotton. great. cotton will outshine it 3 times over though in many situations i need it to work in.
the ability for microfiber to cling lint, this rarely seems to help when cleaning, but it will surely attract infinite trash in the dryer if you put it in with any other cloth
no im sold that its not as good, dont piss on my back and tell me its raining.
have you even tried to clean with the stuff?
all that said, for $5 maybe you're getting exactly what you pay for which is fine
