Honest question-is a core m3 going to allow watching 1080 YouTube video in 2025 without stuttering?

This is overpriced for most. Incredibly dated hardware, the lowest spec of this release, ..

yes BUT if you're doing anything else with the 8gb of ram the machine will chug. I used pixelbooks and pixelbook gos for a few years and loved them but I wouldn't consider jumping on a deal until you find a 16gb version

I'd get the Lenovo Duet over this. In my opinion Chromebooks should be used as a 2-in-1 for their Android capabilities and ARM chips for their better battery life. At this price you should be getting 128gb.

Used to have this exact model I think. It has amazing build quality, good keyboard, and great speakers iirc. Definitely getting older. We upgraded to an i3 HP and it's generally been a better fit, but I do somewhat miss the speakers and sleekness of this one. This doesn't feel like the discount it needs to really move it though.

What would you suggest in this price range that is 13 to 14 in screen with a backlit keyboard?

I am trying to find one this size but don't see anything.

Chromebooks work fine with 8GB DDR. They are nothing like Windows.

This particular processor is made for efficiency. Made to make the battery last longer but it is powerful enough for a chromebook. Only the 4GB ones struggle.
