You have to get R9 if you want a nicer pattern

And Gibson does not go crazy about the flames. Not like PRS.
I rarely play, but I do look at them a lot.
For me the pattern and the flames are very important, I've been planning on buying a lemon burst for years now...

A few examples of the prettiest I have ever seen:

A few more here(pretty much art guitars here): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQ7uYmd
A lemon burst is on my list too (sort of), I would like to pick up a greenie, where I guess that has aged to a lemon burst (that is what it looks like to me anyway) but started out as a cherry or tea or something like that.
If I was gonna spend $3,800 dollars on a guitar, it would be an acoustic guitar without a pickup. There really is a difference there, you can really hear it.
But as guys have pointed out in this thread, there are many fabulous guitar brands being made today. And it matters so very much for an electric guitar that you have the right amp. And these days, the effects that are available are .. shocking. So, you take all that in to account and ..
.. I consider myself pretty stupid for spending $6k on that Les Paul on the wall over there.
I play a 1984 Flying V so .. I don't even touch that Custom. I put it on a recording and I'm like, "Yeah, see it sounds like a Gibson. I have one of those already."
When you invest significant money like this, diversify your arsenal of sounds. Like sockets in a toolbox, get a diverse amount of tools for a variety of sounds and don't double up.

Hahahahahaha

Those are such trash.
This faux aging is a very poor quality process.
I had bought an r9, gently aged, the varnish was peeling off everywhere, got it it returned and rejected any replacement and have no regrets.
Much nicer than Gibson USA version I have as a finished product, but Murphy lab is for display purposes only.
I was trying to give an overview on the entire horizon of electric guitars at the midway point of 2025.
As for the "Murphy Labs" stuff .. I'm old enough to remember when they first started with this "aged look" thing. I got a catalogue and I'm looking at it and I was entirely confused. I thought, "Why the hell would you want that? Looks like a garage sale guitar". AND THEN .. I saw the price of the one beat half to death was MORE than the perfectly new one. And I just started laughing.
I thought, "How do I get that job? 'HEY BUDDY .. I'LL BEAT THE LIVING CRAP OUT OF YOUR GUITAR FOR 800 BUCKS'"

There are more guitars in the lineup like a 1954,1957 etc. but the R8, R9 and R0 are the most popular with the R9 being the most popular by far.
