Forgive my ignorance but is this speaker suitable for using with an electronic drum set?

Not at all. I use the bigger sister (306P) at my desktop setup.

My chain:

PC --> DAC (via USB) --> EQ --> Headphone amp --> 306P via XLRs + RCAs out to Klipsch 15" sub. It makes for a killer 2.1 setup that I can control via my headphone amp (as a pre-amp). Setup picture attached as I type this post.

The stereo separation on these things is great. They're a bit on the neutral side (as a studio monitor should be)... but the EQ and sub make it a bit more fun.

Still bummed out I didn't get a pair of 308's for $250 pre-covid. Not sure I really need a pair but would be nice to see them on sale.

Some of the high end models are on sale, but still spendy. 4349's are only $7000 a pair at Sweetwater.

Ive got a mini Mac and was hoping to be able to use the headphone jack. I think 1/8inch. Can I hook these up to it or need an adapter?

Deals over, as they sat in my cart to check out. I hate it when that happens.

It has 1/4" or XLR inputs.

On my standing desk setup, I had a pair of these that were wired from an 1/8" to XLR split cable [amazon.com].

I've heard of Peace APO -- essentially just software EQ. Your link just takes me to a forum (but not a thread).

I personally prefer hardware EQ over software. Just easier to toggle on the fly. And I was into HW EQs before I discovered APOs.

It's still a fairly good deal for $180 a pair. I got the first gen several years ago for the same price that are still holding up well.
Same. I also have the 1st gen pair and they are like new. Solid buy

I would be very cautious about use these as computer speakers. The tweeters make a low high-frequency hiss which can annoy you if you're sitting closely. They are also subject to electrical noise interference from your PC (for example, you can hear a buzz when you're moving your mouse. Can be fixed if you have a standalone DAC or electrically isolate your PC from speakers with optical out -> DAC. YMMV). I got used to the tweeter hiss after a while but it drove me crazy. I now use these speakers in a living room so I'm sitting far away enough to not hear the buzz anymore.

How high do you have the dial on the back set? I had heard some others mention the hiss, but they seemed to be running them pretty high.
